" Shepherdesses " by Vanessa Chambard
I have three friends. They're wonderful and they're shepherds.
After photographing them, I wanted to go into the mountains with them too. And that's how I got into shepherding.
Becoming a shepherdess was my way of carving out a space of freedom in a world that was too narrow.
But at a time when forests continue to burn, this space is very fragile and the terrain rugged.
By mixing texts and photographs, I deliver an intimate account that goes beyond pastoralism to address broader issues such as ecology, gender, work...
From 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Come and discover a double exhibition dedicated to the beauty of botany and the Jardin des Plantes!
Françoise Olivier developed her love of nature while observing the landscapes of Languedoc as a child. When she discovered watercolor, she wanted to convey the vision of her world. A mixture of pigments and water, aquarelle is a seemingly simple technique that owes its difficulty to the lightness and speed of its execution. It's an unpredictable form of painting. In these infinite mixtures of colors linked to water, Françoise Olivier expresses her perception of the plant environment she is constantly discovering.
Through a dialogue between scientific observation and creative imagination, Laurent Baylet 's canvas prints reveal how nature, a primary source of inspiration, becomes material for transformation and can free itself from the constraints of reality, exploring the porous boundaries between documentation and interpretation.
For this exhibition, the plant becomes a pretext for a broader reflection on our relationship with the natural world. It invites us to consider that artistic representation can express a deeper reality about our relationship to the environment and to our own nature.
June 6-14, Orangerie du Jardin des Plantes de Montpellier - 12pm-8pm - closed Mondays.
From 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
