Come discover a dual exhibition celebrating the beauty of botany and the Jardin des Plantes!

It was by observing the landscapes of the Languedoc region from childhood that Françoise Olivier developed her love for nature. Upon discovering watercolor, she sought to convey her vision of the world. A mixture of pigments and water, watercolor—a technique that appears simple—owes its difficulty to the lightness and speed of its execution. It is an unpredictable medium. Through these infinite blends of water-based colors, Françoise Olivier expresses her perception of the natural world, which she continues to discover.

Through a dialogue between scientific observation and creative imagination, Laurent Baylet ’s paintings reveal how nature—his primary source of inspiration—becomes a medium for transformation and can break free from the constraints of reality, exploring the blurred boundaries between documentation and interpretation.

In this exhibition, plants serve as a starting point for a broader reflection on our relationship with the natural world. It invites us to consider how artistic representation can convey a deeper truth about our relationship with the environment and our own nature.

June 6–14, Orangerie at the Jardin des Plantes in Montpellier – 12:00 PM–8:00 PM – closed on Mondays.
