A look back at the faculty ECOS: a real-life scenario for DFASM3 students

On March 25, 2025, the faculty Structured Clinical Objective Examinations (SCOEs) took place simultaneously at the Arnaud de Villeneuve Health Campus in Montpellier and the Carémeau Health Campus in Nîmes. Designed on the model of the national SCOEs, this test allowed DFASM3 students to assess their clinical skills in a structured and demanding setting. It counted toward the validation of their clinical skills certificate, a key step in their training.

A total of 312 students participated, including 217 in Montpellier and 95 in Nîmes. The test was structured around seven circuits, each comprising five clinical simulation stations:

  • An orthopedic surgery station with a standardized participant,
  • An emergency medical station with a standardized healthcare professional,
  • A medical biology station,
  • A neurology ward,
  • A station dedicated to a specific procedure, in this case cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The organization of this event required the mobilization of more than 120 people, including 47 evaluators, as well as several teams dedicated to logistics, simulation, and technical support.

Total:

  • 3 members of management,
  • 10 people in an amphitheater,
  • 28 guides,
  • 6 people in charge of administrative and logistical management,
  • 10 members for IT and audiovisual,
  • 47 evaluators,
  • 5 people dedicated to simulation,
  • 3 PS during the day, 11 PSS per day, 7 PS in the morning and 7 PS in the afternoon,
  • 12 educational leaders.

Thanks to this faculty-based ECOS, students were able to confront realistic clinical situations and prepare for future national ECOS exams.

A big thank you to all the teams involved in making this event a success!
