A Look Back at the Faculty-Level ECOS: A Real-World Simulation for DFASM3 Students

On March 25, 2025, the faculty-level Structured Objective Clinical Exams (ECOS) were held simultaneously at the Arnaud de Villeneuve Health Campus in Montpellier and the Carémeau Health Campus in Nîmes. Modeled after the national ECOS, this exam allowed DFASM3 students to assess their clinical skills in a structured and demanding setting. It counted toward the validation of their certificate of clinical competencies, a key step in their training.

A total of 312 students participated, including 217 in Montpellier and 95 in Nîmes. The exam consisted of 7 circuits, each comprising 5 clinical simulation stations:

  • An orthopedic surgery station with a standardized participant,
  • An emergency medical station staffed by a standardized healthcare professional,
  • A clinical laboratory,
  • A neurology clinic,
  • A station dedicated to a specific procedure, in this case cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Organizing this event required the involvement of more than 120 people, including 47 evaluators, as well as several teams dedicated to logistics, simulation, and technical support.

Total:

  • 3 members of management,
  • 10 people in a lecture hall,
  • 28 chaperones,
  • 6 people responsible for administrative and logistical management,
  • 10 members for IT and audiovisual,
  • 47 reviewers,
  • 5 people dedicated to simulation,
  • 3 PS during the day, 11 PSS for the day, 7 PS in the morning and 7 PS in the afternoon,
  • 12 educational leaders.

Thanks to this faculty-level ECOS, students were able to tackle realistic clinical scenarios and prepare for the upcoming national ECOS exams.

A big thank you to all the teams who worked hard to make this event a success!
