What is it?

A study break is a period of up to one year during which a student enrolled in a higher education program temporarily suspends their studies in order to gain personal experience, either independently or through a host organization in France or abroad.

Please note that taking a gap year is not an alternative to pursuing a degree program.

Special provision for PASS and LAS1 students: In accordance with the University’s R3E regulations, the gap year program applies only to a full academic year. Consequently, no requests for a gap year covering a single semester will be accepted. Furthermore, since repeating a year is not permitted in PASS and LAS1 and a gap year counts as one enrollment, any student who decides to request a gap year in either of these two programs will be reinstated at the end of their gap year, not in PASS or LAS1, but in L1, having exhausted one application opportunity for PASS programs, as provided for in the amended decree of November 4, 2019.
