  • OVERVIEW

    The Master’s in Biology and Health (BS) – GET Track, “Clinical Trial Management,” provides students with dual expertise in clinical development and the methodological skills necessary for a smooth and rapid transition into the workforce in the industry, at regulatory agencies, and in clinical research departments. There are two sub-tracks:

    • The “Neuropsychiatry” track is designed to provide students with expertise in both neuropsychiatry and management and project management, through first-rate theoretical training (both foundational and clinical) and long-term practical training (an M1 internship often lasting more than 4 months; an M2 internship lasting 6 months). These skills are in high demand due to growing needs (an aging population) and the steady expansion of certain sectors (medical-social services, healthcare, the pharmaceutical industry, and service providers) in the fields of cognition and behavior.
    • The “Innovative Therapies” track is designed to provide students with the expertise needed to design, evaluate, and manage industrial or academic clinical research projects in the rapidly growing field of innovative therapies (oncology, hematology, autoimmune diseases, etc.). This program is highly career-oriented (M1 internships often lasting more than 4 months; M2 internships lasting 4 and 6 months), with the option of a work-study program available to 25% of each cohort. The program aims to provide advanced training in all aspects of clinical research (regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, project development, etc.), with a particular focus on new innovative therapies (cell-based, acellular, and RNA-based therapies, etc.).

    In the first year of the Master’s program, the curriculum allows students to acquire an initial specialization in one of the two fields related to each of the two tracks in the second year of the Master’s program. It provides the prerequisites in methodology, biostatistics, quality assessment, and neurophysiology. The two tracks have only three specific course units in the second year of the Master’s program. However, it allows students in the third year of the Bachelor’s program in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience to pursue a Master’s degree that aligns with their interests and is in high demand by clinical research departments, as well as clinical and translational studies in the fields of innovative therapies and neuroscience. Transfer options between the M1 Neuroscience, M1 MER, or GET tracks are available depending on available capacity.

    In the second year of the Master’s program, the curriculum builds on the scientific and technological training acquired in the first year by providing students with dual expertise in clinical development and methodology. This training is essential for students to quickly and successfully enter the workforce in various sectors (executive positions in industry, regulatory agencies, clinical research departments, and fields related to aging).

The goal of this master’s program is to train executives in the field of health care who can meet the emerging demands and needs of the sectors involved in clinical drug evaluation and the regulatory aspects of bringing drugs to market, at both the European and national levels.

Professionals discuss drug and biotherapy development, quality assurance, preclinical development, and Phase 2/3 clinical trials.

The program’s focus on professional training and its commitment to helping graduates find employment in both the public and private sectors are based on close collaboration between hospital departments, researchers, and professionals in the fields of innovative therapies and neuropsychology. No other program in the region offers this dual area of expertise.

AUDIENCES

Initial Training

The master’s program is open to students who hold a bachelor’s degree, a first-year master’s degree in Biology and Health, or any other first-year master’s degree that includes coursework in the field of health, as well as to students in pharmacy and medicine who have completed the first year of a master’s program.

Continuing Education

The master’s program is open to physicians, pharmacists, and employees of the pharmaceutical industry, subject to prerequisites, admission based on professional experience (VAP), or admission based on prior learning (VAE).

International audience

This program is not listed on Etudes en France.

  • Required education(s)

    The Master’s program is open to students as part of their initial training starting in the third year of a health-related degree program. As a continuing education program, it is designed for healthcare providers, physicians, and social and education professionals. The following individuals may apply, subject to meeting educational or experience requirements:

    In initial training

    • Bachelor's Degree Required for Admission to the First Year of the Master's Program
    • Successful completion of the M1 program for admission to the M2 program

    Continuing Education

    • Under the VAP (1985 Act) or the VAE (2002 Act), as approved by the review committee.

  • GET Master's 2 Program, Innovative Therapies Track

    Two internships are required:

    • The hospital internship: It will take place every morning from Monday, October 5, 2026, to Friday, February 5, 2027 (4 months part-time). For work-study students, please refer to the CFA calendar (dates may vary). At the orientation meeting, a list of hospital departments that have agreed to accept Master’s students will be presented. Each student must choose their internship location from this list and contact the medical director by email to schedule an interview and secure internship approval.   
    • The pharmaceutical industry internship (in a company): It will begin on March 1, 2027, on a full-time basis, and run through August 27, 2027. This internship may be completed in France or abroad. Unlike hospital internships, each student must find their own internship placement in the industry. For students in work-study programs, please refer to the CFA calendar (dates may vary).

    Both internships must be completed at separate host organizations in order to comply with regulations regarding the maximum duration of an internship at a single organization. Thus, it is not possible to complete these two internships in two different departments of the Montpellier University Hospital, for example, since it is considered a single host organization.
