The speakers

In accordance with the provisions of the amended decree of October 29, 1987, there are two categories of temporary staff in higher education:

  • Temporary teaching staff (CEV)

They are defined by Article 2 of Decree No. 87-889 of October 27, 1987, as amended, as: "individuals chosen for their expertise in scientific, cultural, or professional fields, who, in addition to their teaching duties, have a main professional activity..." Due to the occasional nature of teaching activities and in order to avoid placing temporary lecturers in a precarious professional and financial situation, temporary teaching cannot under any circumstances be carried out as a main activity.

  • Temporary agency workers

Temporary contract workers are defined inArticle 3 of Decree No. 87-889 of October 29, 1987. They are students enrolled in postgraduate studies or persons who have not reached the age limit for civil service and who are receiving a retirement pension, early retirement allowance, or end-of-service leave, provided that at the time of termination of their duties they were engaged in a main professional activity outside the institution.
