Speakers

In accordance with the provisions of the amended decree of October 29, 1987, there are two categories of temporary faculty members in higher education:

  • Adjunct instructors (CEV)

They are defined in Article 2 of Decree No. 87-889 of October 27, 1987, as amended, as: “individuals selected for their expertise in scientific, cultural, or professional fields, who, in addition to their role as adjunct instructors, engage in a primary professional activity…”. Due to the occasional nature of teaching activities and to avoid placing part-time lecturers in a precarious professional and financial situation, part-time teaching may under no circumstances be carried out as a primary occupation.

  • Temporary workers

Temporary workers are defined inArticle 3 of Decree No. 87-889 of October 29, 1987. They are graduate students or individuals who have not reached the age limit for the civil service and who are receiving a retirement pension, an early retirement allowance, or end-of-service leave, provided that, at the time of termination of their employment, they were engaged in a primary professional activity outside the institution.

The recruitment process

Compensation

Compensation does not take into account the part-time instructor’s qualifications or experience and does not count toward seniority. This compensation does not confer eligibility for unemployment benefits or retirement benefits: it is not a salary but rather an “allowance for supplementary instruction”—Article 2 of the decree of December 23, 1983.

All hours are compensated as teaching equivalent hours
