With an exceptional historical and cultural heritage, the Montpellier-Nîmes School of Medicine is the oldest medical school in the world. We celebrated its800thanniversary in 2020, and you’ll find the highlights of those 18 months of celebrationon this page.

From an educational perspective, our program offerings include studies inmedicineandmidwifery, as well as paramedical traininginspeech-language pathology,orthoptics,advanced practice nursing, andpsychomotor therapy. Our curriculum is firmly focused on the challenges of tomorrow’s healthcare landscape: emerging health needs, regional health issues, the role of technology and digital solutions, interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration, and international outreach. A wide range of continuing education programs complements our initial training offerings. All our programs utilizemodern teachingmethods andtools, including simulation, e-learning, and innovative instructional formats. Special emphasis is placed on patient partners, who are now integrated into the teaching teams.

Our faculty is involved inhealth researchin close collaboration withthe University of Montpellier, theMontpellierandNîmesUniversity Hospitals,the IRCM, research organizations,the ARS, and theRegion. It offers research training through both undergraduate and continuing education programs, including dual degree programs, research years, and several Master’s tracks. The faculty plays a key role in shaping health research through its vision of advances in medicine, by promoting the integration of education and research within the faculty, and through its involvement in innovative clinical, basic, and translational research projects.
