SYMPOSIUM OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SURGERY

The Academy of Surgery, like the Academy of Medicine, wished to gather at the Faculty of Medicine to celebrate its eighth centenary.

On this occasion, the surgeons in attendance took part in a two-day seminar, the first day devoted to surgery in the past, and the second to surgery today and tomorrow.

  • HISTORY OF SURGERY

    The first day will be devoted to the history of surgery. In honor of the 800th anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine, the first day will focus on the history of surgery, particularly in Montpellier, with several lectures on the great names in Montpellier surgery: Gui de Chauliac, François Gigot de Lapeyronie, and Georges Marchal.

  • CURRENT PROGRESS

    A second day devoted to current advances. After focusing on surgical robotics, the symposium highlights the advantages and limitations of simulation-based learning.
