PASS & LAS Pre-School Workshop

With the aim of helping PASS and LAS students prepare as effectively as possible for their first year of medical studies, the Pre-Semester Workshop (SPR) is a flagship event organized by the tutoring associations of the Montpellier-Nîmes Faculty of Medicine. The only requirement for participation is to be enrolled in the tutoring program for the current academic year. The content of the sessions, just like the content of the courses taught by professors at the three campuses, is identical to ensure equality among the students.

The Pre-Semester Workshop for PASS Students

The Parcours Accès Spécifique Santé (PASS) is a challenging year, particularly demanding due to the large number of courses designed to prepare students for the end-of-semester placement exams.

As such, the ATSM, ATP, and TSN are offering their members a two-week Pre-Semester Workshop (SPR) from Monday, August 21, to Friday, September 1, at their respective campuses. The goal of this course is to help students prepare for their first semester, either by providing an overview of all the courses offered or by focusing on those that require more understanding and study.

In fact, students participating in this program will have an average of four 2-hour instructional sessions per day, running from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and then from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. These sessions cover the vast majority of concepts addressed during the first semester in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, genomics, cell biology, human physiology, humanities and social sciences, as well as medications and other health products. These sessions consist of lectures in lecture halls or classrooms, led in a friendly atmosphere by our teams of tutors who are in their third or fourth year of a health sciences program. They are also accompanied by a printed handout and a booklet of practice multiple-choice questions, as this is the format in which students will be assessed on the placement exam.

The SPR is offered at a cost of €15, which includes course handouts and a collection of multiple-choice questions—essential for the smooth running of in-person sessions. These two preparatory weeks also allow students to try out different study and organizational methods, which are key to success during this first year.

To give students a first taste of the type of exam they will be taking, the tutoring program will conclude the SPR with a practice exam on Saturday, September 2, during which students will have the opportunity to practice multiple-choice questions under actual exam conditions.

The pre-school year training session is also an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the specific aspects of the PASS in terms of methodology, well-being, reform, and support…

The Pre-Semester Workshop for LAS Students

The Bachelor’s in Health Access (LAS) program includes fewer health-related courses. However, the SPR is not exclusively for PASS students. In fact, LAS students are eligible for an SPR tailored to their health minor. From Monday, August 28, to Wednesday, August 30, LAS students will be supported remotely by our teams of tutors, with an identical program across all three campuses to ensure equal opportunities for all. The LAS SPR is completely free, as session handouts and multiple-choice quizzes will be provided in digital format.
