PASS & LAS pre-term course

With the aim of enabling PASS and LAS students to prepare as well as possible for their year of health studies, the Pre-Entry Internship (SPR) is a flagship event organized by the tutoring associations of the Montpellier-Nîmes Faculty of Medicine. The only condition for participation is to be enrolled in tutoring for the current academic year. The content of the sessions, like the content of the courses taught by professors at the three sites, is identical in order to ensure equality among tutors.

Pre-term internship for PASS students

The Specific Health Access Program (PASS) is a complex and particularly intense year due to the number of courses preparing students for end-of-semester exams.

The ATSM, ATP, and TSN are offering their members a two-week pre-term course (SPR) from Monday, August 21 to Friday, September 1 at their respective teaching sites. The aim of this course is to enable students to get the most out of their first semester, either by taking a general approach to all the courses on offer or by focusing on those courses that require more understanding and learning.

In fact, students participating in this internship will have an average of four 2-hour teaching sessions per day, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and then from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. These sessions cover most of the concepts addressed during the first semester in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, genomics, cell biology, human physiology, humanities and social sciences, as well as medicines and other health products. These sessions consist of lectures in lecture halls or classrooms, led in a friendly atmosphere by our teams of tutors in their third or fourth year of health studies. They are also accompanied by a paper handout and a booklet of practice multiple-choice questions, as this is the format in which students will be assessed in the ranking exam.

The SPR is offered at a price of €15, which includes course handouts and a collection of multiple-choice questions, both of which are essential for the smooth running of face-to-face sessions. These two weeks in advance also allow students to try out different working and organizational methods, which are key to success in this first year.

To give students an initial idea of the type of exam they will be taking, the tutoring program concludes with a Saturday, September 2nd study session where students can practice multiple-choice questions under real exam conditions.

The pre-term internship is also an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the specific features of the PASS in terms of methodology, well-being, reform, and support.

Pre-term course for LAS students

The Licence Accès Santé (LAS) degree program has less health-related coursework. However, the SPR is not only for PASS students. LAS students are also entitled to an SPR tailored to their health minor. From Monday, August 28 to Wednesday, August 30, LAS students will be supervised remotely by our teams of tutors, with an identical program across the three sites in order to maintain equal opportunities. The LAS SPR is completely free of charge, as the session handouts and multiple-choice questions will be provided in digital format.
