Pre-term course for PASS/LAS students

The first year of health studies is known to be demanding, whether it is the PASS or the LAS. The tutoring program seeks to provide the best possible support to all students and therefore organizes a pre-term course (SPR) to help them start the year with greater peace of mind. It is organized across sites at the Arnaud de Villeneuve campus, the Carémeau health campus, and the Flahault campus.

Pre-term course for PASS students

To ensure a smooth transition from high school to the Specific Health Access Program, the tutoring service offers an internship at the end of August to help students get into the rhythm of the academic year, which begins in September. The goal of this early start is to help students become familiar with a new environment that is different from high school. Over the course of two weeks, students will have the opportunity to find a study method that works for them. Starting the year with a solid foundation helps students gain confidence and save time so they can be as efficient as possible.

Over two weeks, from August 19 to 31, sessions are held throughout the day at the new medical school by our tutors, who are medical, midwifery, and dental students. The schedule is divided into four 2-hour sessions from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and then from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It covers the first semester of PASS courses, addressing all the subjects that count toward your final grade: chemistry-biochemistry, genomics and genetics, cell biology, human physiology, humanities and social sciences, medicines, and other health products. Students will be able to practice multiple-choice questions, which is the format used for most of the year's exams. At the end of the pre-term course, a test is organized, which is equivalent to a small mock exam to get students in the right frame of mind and give them an idea of the format and type of questions asked.

Another benefit of this internship is meeting new people, forming a working group, and discussing methodology and well-being, which are central to our concerns, with the tutors. The cost of the SPR is €15 for printing the handouts.

To register for the pre-term course, you must first register for free tutoring.

Pre-term internship for LAS students

A pre-term internship is also organized for LAS students. It is lighter because the LAS health program contains only three teaching units in the first semester: human physiology, humanities and social sciences, medicines and other health products. The course takes place over four days via the ZOOM platform. It is delivered remotely to ensure equal opportunities for the various LAS programs. An end-of-SPR exam is also organized remotely. As with PASS students, you must first be registered for tutoring in order to register for the SPR. Registration is completely free of charge.
