The Pre-Semester Workshop for PASS/LAS Students

The first year of health studies is known to be demanding, whether students are pursuing a PASS or a LAS degree. The tutoring program aims to provide the best possible support to all students and therefore organizes a pre-semester orientation (SPR) to help them approach the start of the year with greater confidence. It is held across multiple campuses: the Arnaud de Villeneuve campus, the Carémeau Health Campus, and the Flahault Campus.

The Pre-Semester Workshop for PASS Students

To ensure a smooth transition from high school to the Specific Health Access Program, the tutoring program offers a workshop in late August to help students get into the rhythm of the academic year, which begins in September. The goal of this early start is to help students become familiar with a new environment, different from that of high school. Over the course of two weeks, students will have the opportunity to find a study method that works for them. Starting the year with a solid foundation helps build confidence and saves time, allowing students to be as efficient as possible.

Over a two-week period, from August 19 to 31, sessions are held all day at the new medical school by our tutors, who are students in medicine, midwifery, and dentistry. The schedule consists of four 2-hour sessions from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and then from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. It covers the first semester of PASS courses by addressing all graded subjects: chemistry and biochemistry, genomics and genetics, cell biology, human physiology, humanities and social sciences, medications, and other health products. Students will have the opportunity to practice multiple-choice questions, the format used in most exams throughout the year. At the end of the Pre-Semester Workshop, a practice test is administered—the equivalent of a short mock exam—to help students get into the right mindset and familiarize themselves with the format and the types of questions asked.

Another benefit of this workshop is the opportunity to meet new people, form a study group, and discuss methodology and well-being—topics that are central to our concerns—with the instructors. The cost of the SPR is €15 to cover the printing of handouts.

To register for the back-to-school workshop, you must first sign up for the tutoring program (free of charge).

The Pre-Semester Workshop for LAS Students

A pre-semester workshop is also organized for LAS students. It is less intensive because the health program for LAS students consists of only three course units in the first semester: human physiology, humanities and social sciences, and medications and other health products. The workshop takes place over 4 days via the ZOOM platform. It is conducted remotely to ensure equal opportunities for students across different LAS programs. A final SPR review session is also held remotely. As with PASS students, you must first be enrolled in the tutoring program to register for the SPR. Registration is completely free.
