Welcome Ceremony for New Employees and Retirement Ceremony

On Tuesday, September 30, a ceremony was held to welcome new employees and honor retiring staff.

The Dean and the University President opened this highlight of the faculty’s academic year with a few remarks.

In honor of their retirement, Professor Michel KOENIG of the Department of Genetics (Division of Molecular Genetics and Cytogenomics, based in Montpellier) and Ms. Antonia Roussel (executive secretary in the General Affairs Office, based in Montpellier) were presented with a medal and a copy of the book *La Faculté de Médecine de Montpellier*, edited by Professor Robert Dumas.

Then the new arrivals were introduced one by one:

  • Kévin MOUZAT in biochemistry and molecular biology, assigned to Nîmes (Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology).
  • Mireille COSSEE in clinical genetics in Montpellier (Department of Molecular Genetics and Cytogenomics).
  • Gaëtan POULEN in neurosurgery, assigned to Montpellier (Department of Neurosurgery).
  • Arthur GAVOTTO in pediatrics, assigned to Montpellier (neonatal and intensive care unit and pediatric emergency medical service).
  • Noémie RANISAVLJEVIC in developmental and reproductive biology and medicine; medical gynecology, based in Montpellier (Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology).
  • François CARBONNEL in General Practice (Department of General Practice)
  • Christophe MILESI, a pediatrician based in Montpellier (Department of Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care and Pediatric Emergency Medical Service)
  • Jean-Baptiste BONNET in nutrition, assigned to Montpellier (Nutrition and Diabetes Department).
  • Eric MARTINEZ, Head of the Human Resources and Other Staff Management Department based in Montpellier.
  • Katarina NOVAKOVIC-LAIGRE, Administrator in the Graduate Studies Office, based in Montpellier.
  • Sophie BIRUKOFF, Office Manager (Master’s Programs and International Relations Office – Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Division), based in Montpellier.
  • Jemima RUSHTON, Academic Affairs Manager (Office of Master’s Programs and International Relations – Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Affairs Office) based in Montpellier.

Finally, and for the first time, the ceremony featured a robe-passing ceremony.

Professor Philippe Lambert, a retired professor of general medicine and the first recipient of the faculty’s general medicine academic gown, presented it to the new professor of general medicine, François Carbonnel.

It is moments like this that reinforce the faculty’s humanistic spirit and make it what it is!

A convivial gathering brought together numerous departments from the faculty, the administration, associate deans, emeritus professors, and faculty members in the Cour d’Honneur.
