Starting your first year of health studies can seem daunting, both because of the demands it places on you and the many stereotypes surrounding it. That's why tutoring is available to support students throughout the year, from the pre-term internship to the oral exams.
The pre-term internship is an excellent opportunity to find your feet, discover how the year works, and familiarize yourself with the different teaching units. It takes place on the three campuses, Arnaud de Villeneuve, Carémeau, and Flahault, in collaboration with the various tutoring programs (ATSM, TSN, and ATP, respectively).
Why participate in the pre-term training course?
For PASS holders:
This internship is a first immersion into higher education. It allows students to discover the university environment, meet other students, and make the transition from high school to the first year of college.
The program includes an initial introduction to the first semester courses to help students feel more confident about them later on. Tutors will lead sessions on chemistry and biochemistry, genomics and genetics, cell biology, human and general physiology, humanities and social sciences, medicines, and other health products. The tutors are third-year health studies students. During these sessions, PASS students will be able to discover and practice multiple-choice questions, which are the format used for the vast majority of exams during the year. To conclude the course, a test will be held on the last day. This initial practice session will allow students to discover the conditions of a PASS exam, including the exam grids, the time allowed, the rooms, and the grading system.
In addition to the educational aspect, students will have the opportunity to ask tutors questions about the coming year. As the tutors are students from health-related fields, they have lived through this difficult year and will be able to share their own experiences.
First-year students will also be able to benefit from advice on methodology, helping them to discover their own way of working. In addition, advice on well-being will be provided to help them get the most out of this year: student well-being is very important to our tutoring program. Finally, students will receive explanations about the REES (*Réforme d’Entrée dans les Études de Santé - Health Studies Entrance Reform).
To participate in this workshop, you must first register for tutoring, which is free of charge. The SPR costs €17.50 for PASS students (price of handouts).

Students will be able to benefit from an introduction to general human physiology, humanities and social sciences, medicines, and other health products during sessions led by qualified tutors. During these sessions, LAS students will be able to discover and practice multiple-choice questions, which are the format used for the vast majority of exams during the year. To conclude this course, a test is organized on the last day. This is an initial practice session that allows students to discover the exam conditions, including the multiple-choice question format, the time allowed, and the grading system.
