MASTER'S IN HEALTH CARE

SHS TRACK – HEALTH CARE, HUMANITIES, SOCIETIES

  • OVERVIEW

Healthcare professionals are now called upon to contribute to the development of research capabilities in the areas of definitions and perceptions of disease, the social organization it entails, the structuring of networks, health education, and health equity. This research draws on knowledge from the humanities and social sciences to gain a deeper understanding of complex issues.

The Master’s in Social Sciences and Humanities (SHS), designed for health care students starting in their third year (M1) and for health care providers, physicians, and social and education professionals (M2), enables students to acquire this knowledge and expertise while preparing them for research.

The first year of the master’s program is designed to build this knowledge, while the second year focuses on the new skills required to conduct high-quality qualitative research on health, chronic conditions, increased life expectancy, and disability, as well as issues related to professional practice.

  • To train research professionals who combine biomedical or healthcare expertise with qualitative perspectives from the humanities and social sciences in the study of health and chronic conditions.
  • To train health researchers in the humanities and social sciences : sociology, philosophy, anthropology, psychology, communication sciences, education sciences, political science.
  • Developing Dual Competencies in Health : medicine/humanities; healthcare/humanities.
