TESTIMONIALS

OUR STUDENTS HAVE THE FLOOR

Faculty Life

For me, optician and orthoptist are two professions that complement each other perfectly.

My name is Nicolas, I'm 25 years old and I'm in my first year of training to become an orthoptist.

I am where I am today because I worked as an optician before deciding to change careers, although I see it more as a specialization.

In fact, I believe that optician and orthoptist are two professions that complement each other perfectly, and so it is with great pleasure that I embark on this new training program with the goal of working in a private practice, as salaried employment in retail did not suit me.

Come to orthoptics!

My name is Coralie, I'm 18 years old, and I just graduated from high school! Orthoptics has always been something that interested me! During high school, I was able to do a lot of internships to really be sure of myself, and I advise everyone to do the same to be sure of their path.

Even though it can be a little scary at first to be fresh out of high school when most of the class has done other studies before, in the end everyone is friendly and there is a lot of mutual support, even between different years!

It's a job that isn't talked about much, even though it's very interesting and varied.

Come to orthoptics! 🙂

AMEO ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

  • Student representation

AMEO is a student association created in 2008. It represents students in the orthoptics field and raises awareness about this profession. To this end, we participate in various events such as student fairs, university open houses, and many others, providing information to different people about the profession itself, studies, and internships.

  • Integration assistance

AMEO ensures that students enjoy their studies and are well integrated into the school. To this end, integration, festive, and team-building events are organized on a regular basis, such as pancake sales, the end-of-year gala, and group orders for orthoptic equipment. Events are also held in collaboration with other associations such as "Hôpital des Nounours" and Sidaction.

  • Intermediary with other associations

Finally, AMEO acts as an intermediary between all the associations to which it belongs, passing on information that is important and useful for studies and everyday life in Montpellier. The AMEO is a member of the FFEO (French Federation of Orthoptics Students), the AGEM (General Association of Montpellier Students), and the ADEMMOOS (Association of Elected Students of Montpellier-Nîmes in Medicine, Speech Therapy, Orthoptics, and Midwifery). This association represents students within the Faculty of Medicine and works to improve training conditions and inform students about them.

  • Friendliness

In conclusion, to ensure you can study with peace of mind, the AMEO office members invite you to join us at the various events organized or at the Faculty of Medicine premises!
