Preparation for Oral Exams Through Tutoring

With the introduction of the PASS/LAS reform, a new assessment has been created to select students who will advance to the second year of health studies: oral exams.

As part of the ongoing preparation offered by the Montpellier-Nîmes Health Tutoring Program, the student associations are organizing specialized training for the oral exams to maximize students’ chances of success in this phase.

This second set of exams consists of two oral exams, each lasting 10 minutes—5 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions from the jury—preceded by 20 minutes of individual preparation on the given topic. The first exam involves reflecting on a health ethics topic, requiring students to critically analyze a current medical issue. The second exam, the complex health issue, asks students to analyze a visual document.

CONTENTS OF THE TUTORING PREPARATION

During the week of June 12–18, 2024, over four 2-hour sessions, they will be supervised by second- and third-year tutors from the Medicine, Midwifery, Pharmacy, and Dentistry programs, who have been selected and trained by faculty members. These sessions will take place in small groups to encourage discussion and interaction between first-year students and tutors.

The program is detailed on the associations' social media pages.
