Parlons Novembrose workshop - Freeing the word on mental health for first-year health students

For several years now, the Montpellier Health Tutoring Association has been committed to supporting students in their first year of health studies, both in their learning and in their daily lives as students, particularly through preventive actions and the promotion of well-being.
It was with this in mind that we decided to set up a project designed to get people talking and deconstruct the taboos surrounding mental health: the "Parlons Novembrose" workshop.

Designed for PASS and LAS students, this workshop tackles a subject often neglected in health studies: mental health. November marks a turning point in the academic year: after the energy of the first few weeks, the workload intensifies, fatigue sets in and motivation wanes. This phenomenon, well known to students, is called Novembrose. It refers to the period when morale drops, the days seem longer and the loneliness becomes heavier.

The workshop was therefore designed as a response to this difficult period. In small groups, students are invited to share their experiences in a welcoming, non-judgmental setting. Under the guidance of mental health professionals, they can share their feelings, talk about their experiences and find a little comfort in the contact of sympathetic speakers. The aim is not to provide ready-made solutions, but to enable everyone to recognize themselves in the experiences of others, and to leave with a sense of reassurance.

Each participant is offered a plant, a symbol of growth and continuity, to remind them that even in moments of doubt, it's possible to rebuild oneself and move forward at one's own pace. This simple yet meaningful gesture embodies the spirit of the workshop: to take care of ourselves, slowly but surely.

Through this initiative, the Association du Tutorat Santé de Montpellier wishes to remind us that success does not depend solely on hard work or results, but also on the ability to preserve one's equilibrium. More broadly, this project affirms an essential conviction: before being health students, they are above all people, and their mental health deserves our full attention.

The workshop will be held on Thursday November 6 on the Arnaud de Villeneuve campus. You have a choice of two slots:

  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Curie amphitheatre;
  • From 1pm to 3pm, in room 309.
