High School Student Week: a structured immersion in the world of health studies

High School Student Week is a support program for students in their sophomore, junior, and senior years who want to learn more about health studies, particularly the PASS and LAS pathways. This year, it will be held from Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27, 2026.

Led by committed students from the Montpellier Health Tutoring Association, this project aims to provide clear and accessible information to enable high school students to make the most informed career choices possible.

An information and projection device:

The transition from high school to higher education is a crucial step. Health studies, in particular, raise many questions about their organization, requirements, and career opportunities.

High School Student Week addresses these issues by offering a detailed presentation of how the PASS and LAS pathways work, clarifying assessment methods and career prospects, shedding light on academic and methodological expectations, and providing guidance on choosing specializations to pursue starting in the 11th grade.

Presentation of the High School Students' Week program:

Presentation of the PASS and LAS programs:

An introductory session provides an overview of the PASS/LAS reform to ensure a thorough understanding. Topics covered include the organization of studies, the distribution of courses, the assessment system, various pathways, and even possible career prospects.

Discover the subjects taught:

Specific training courses are devoted to the subjects studied in the first year of health studies. These explanatory sessions offer a concrete overview of the educational content and the level of requirements expected, in order to best understand the PASS/LAS year.

They concern consecutive courses within a teaching unit:

  • Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Medicines and Other Health Products
  • General Human Physiology for all high school students

As well as teaching units (for seniors only):

  • Cell Biology
  • Physics Biophysics
  • Biostatistics
  • Craniofacial Mass
  • Chemistry-Biochemistry
  • Genome-Genetics

 Discussion time and frequently asked questions:

This is a time dedicated to discussion, allowing high school students to freely ask questions. Students share their experiences, how they organized themselves, the difficulties they encountered, and their methodological advice regarding the PASS/LAS year.

An in-person immersion at the faculty:

An in-person session is organized within the faculty. High school students have the opportunity to attend a tutoring session, during which a PASS/LAS course and examples of multiple-choice questions will be discussed! This immersion allows them to discover the university environment, observe how a tutoring session works, and envision their future student life.

Open to families and education professionals:

High School Student Week also includes information sessions for parents and teachers. These specific sessions aim to explain how the PASS/LAS pathways work and provide reliable guidance to effectively support students in their decision-making process.

Participating in High School Student Week allows you to:

  • Benefit from structured and up-to-date information;
  • Understanding the real requirements of health studies;
  • Interact with students;
  • Refine your career plan!

Through the diversity of its content and the dedication of its participants, High School Student Week is an essential tool for helping future students build their career paths.
