24 Hours of Biodiversity

On Saturday, April 13, Montpellier's Jardin des Plantes hosted the 24 Hours of Biodiversity event. Organized by GNAUM (the Naturalist Group of the University of Montpellier), this event, now in its ninth year, highlighted plant biodiversity through workshops set up by the Jardin and its partner Tela Botanica*.

The 24 Hours of Biodiversity aims toraise public awareness of biodiversity by compiling an inventory of a site's biodiversity in 24 hours. It is an opportunity for nature lovers from all walks of life to come together, form teams, and share their knowledge in a friendly atmosphere.

This year, the event attracted more than 2,700 visitors. It took place in three main parts: an association village focused on biodiversity, exhibitions presenting the association's activities and projects, and taxonomic inventories carried out in the Jardin des Plantes throughout the day, which ended at nightfall with the nocturnal ballet of bats.

Beyond its educational aspect, the 24 Hours of Biodiversity event also provided an opportunity for nature enthusiasts to meet and exchange ideas. In a relaxed atmosphere, participants were able to share their enthusiasm and interest in environmental conservation.
