PATHWAY TO HEALTH STUDIES
Following the discontinuation of PACES, PASS ( Parcours Spécifique“accès Santé”) has become one of the two main routes into health studies.
In Montpellier, the PASS allows you to apply for the following health programs: Medicine, Midwifery, Dentistry, Pharmacy (MMOP), Physical Therapy (K), Nursing Sciences (I: taught at IFSI – Institut de Formation aux Soins Infirmiers, or Nursing Training Institute).
The PASS year consists of a two-part program: a health major(major because it constitutes the majority of the year's ECTS credits: 49 out of 60 in total) comprising several teaching units (UE), all in the field of health (chemistry-biochemistry, physiology, cellular and molecular biology, physics, medicine, etc.), 1 ECTS for the English teaching unit; but also a compulsory minor, worth 10 ECTS, comprising teaching units that are not in the field of health. This minor corresponds to the options/sub-choices to be selected in Parcoursup, from among all the options offered at the University of Montpellier. This minor allows students who do not gain admission to MMOPKI but have successfully completed the PASS year to continue their studies towards a LAS 2 and the possibility of a second application for admission to health studies.

OUR STUDENTS HAVE THE FLOOR
Hello to you, young high school student reading these few lines!
If I had to sum up my view of medical school so far (I'm in my third year), I would say "it's worth the effort." I'm starting with this quote because, like anyone thinking about their career path, you're probably wondering about the difficulty of the studies, how long they take, and the sacrifices they require. I'll be honest, medical school is very demanding, especially in the first year (PACES in my day, PASS/LAS for you now).
But the important thing to remember is that it is possible to succeed. It may sound silly when you put it like that, but after hearing all sorts of things about the first year, you have to get back to basics: it's a challenging year, but I experienced it as a chrysalis, you come out transformed, and often more "beautiful" than at the beginning (if we ignore the weight loss/gain, haha). Beyond that first year, which is just the first step on the ladder, a world you can't fully imagine awaits you: I made my best friends and had unforgettable experiences, both during the medical student folklore events and during my hospital internships. So yes, compared to the first year, P2 is "easy": but don't rest on your laurels, even if it's the year of liberation, you're still there to gain knowledge for your future profession!
In conclusion, if you are considering a career in medicine, make sure you are well informed about what lies ahead, and give yourself the means to achieve your ambitions. You won't regret the sacrifices you make!

General criteria for reviewing applications
Academic results
Very good scientific knowledge and skills – Essential
Candidates in the general stream of the final year of high school: a modulation + 9 points from the averages in EDS Mathematics, Physics-Chemistry, and SVT > 10/20, 2 EDS taken into account. Candidates in the final year of high school (terminale S) with a modulation + 6 points on their averages in Physics-Chemistry and Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) > 10. Candidates with other baccalaureates, averages in Mathematics, Physics-Chemistry, Life and Earth Sciences (SVT) (or equivalent). Calculation of the average of these grades after any modulation.
Academic skills, methodological knowledge, expertise: Essential
First-year grades from the French baccalaureate preliminary exams. Calculation of the average of the written and oral grades, if available.
Ability to learn and to do a significant amount of personal work. Strong commitment – Essential
The level achieved in the final year of high school in biology and physics/chemistry is decisive. However, the level achieved in the humanities and social sciences (humanities, literature and philosophy, economics and social sciences, etc.) and mathematics, as well as the results in the French baccalaureate, will also be taken into account. The overall level achieved in the first trimesters in the common subjects and in continuous assessments is also an important factor in assessing the overall level.

The second group of tests, which fills the remaining places in MMOP, is based on oral tests. Students who have exceeded a minimum threshold score in the written tests but who are not directly admitted to the first group of tests or who have refused the assignment offered to them in the first group of tests are eligible to participate.
