ATSM
Montpellier Health Tutoring Association
The ATSM, whose full name is Association du Tutorat Santé de Montpellier(Montpellier Health Tutoring Association), is an association founded in 2006 with the mission of ensuring equal opportunities in competitive exams. This commitment translates into tutoring that is completely free, accessible, inclusive, and equivalent across the three Montpellier-Nîmes tutoring sites.
The association is made up of 116 second- and third-year medical, midwifery, and dental students committed to supporting and preparing PASS and LAS students. Tutors are rigorously recruited, trained, and evaluated by the reference professors of each teaching unit, thus ensuring high-quality supervision.
Beyond academic support, ATSM places great importance on extracurricular support. Student well-being and mental health are at the heart of our priorities. Events such as lunch-time discussions, mentoring, Pep's Days, and Tut'Renseignes are offered throughout the year to ensure that this priority is met.
In the interest of inclusivity, we offer disability tutoring to make health studies accessible to all. This service is tailored to the needs of students with disabilities. It is offered in conjunction with the Preventive Medicine Department of the Faculty of Medicine. A Health, Social, and Support (SSA) center is also available within the tutoring program for more specific issues related to international students, housing, financial insecurity, and health.
The ATSM has116 tutorsin their second and third years of medicine, midwifery, and dentistry. The training and recruitment provided by the supervising professors contribute to the representativeness of our work. In fact, since its creation, the ATSM has received the Gold Accreditation six times (2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018) and the Silver Accreditation once (2013) thanks to the dedication of its tutors.
Since 2019, a unique accreditation has been awarded to tutoring programs that deserve it, which ATSM receives each year from the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation in recognition of the quality of its teaching and activities. In addition to the ministerial accreditation, this year the three tutoring programs in Montpellier-Nîmes were rewarded for their innovative Pep's Days project.
In collaboration with the Nîmes (TSN) and Montpellier Pharmacy (ATP) sites, we are implementing various initiatives such as:
Tutor office hours:
641 Avenue du Doyen Giraud, 34090 Montpellier – Faculty of Medicine – Association premises
How do I sign up for tutoring?
Enrollment in one of the UM's three health tutoring programs depends on the student's study site.
The ATSM brings together PASS students from the Arnaud de Villeneuve site as well as LAS students working at Paul Valéry University, the Faculty of Sciences of Montpellier, and the CUFR of Mayotte.
The TSN brings together PASS students from the Carémeau site as well as LAS students working at the University of Nîmes (Bachelor's degrees in Law, Psychology, and Earth Sciences – Biology – Environment) and Perpignan (Bachelor's degrees in Economics – Management, Mathematics, and the DARWIN Portal).
The ATP brings together PASS students from the Flahault site as well as LAS students studying at the University of Montpellier (Bachelor's degrees in Economics and Law, STAPS) and Perpignan (Bachelor's degrees in Law in Perpignan or at the Narbonne branch, STAPS at the Font-Romeu branch).
To register, students must complete the GGform registration form below:
PASS: Registration form
LAS: Registration form
Registration is FREE and OPEN ALL YEAR ROUND. It allows all PASS and LAS students to benefit from the services offered by tutoring (found under the tabs ACADEMIC SUPPORT and COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT).
Is there a difference between the three sites?
No, the three associations work hand in hand and in collaboration with the teachers on the teaching teams. What changes are the tutors:
For each association, tutors are selected and trained by the same teachers who will set the exam questions on the day of the exam.
All sessions and exams are prepared and reviewed across campuses in order to offer students the same content and, as a result, guarantee equal opportunities for everyone.
Does registration entail an obligation to attend classes/tutorials?
No, registration is required to access the various tutoring services. However, students remain in control of their own schedules and are not required to attend all sessions/tutorials.
We still recommend that PASS and LAS students maintain a regular schedule and, for example, base their course revision on the various tutoring sessions.
What happens during a year of tutoring?
For each semester, lectures (CM) begin in week S. Tutorials (ED) related to these lectures take place in week S+1. Finally, tutoring sessions complete these revisions in week S+2.
Thus, for each course, one or more tutoring sessions will be prepared for week S+2. The schedules will be released the previous weekend, as will the multiple-choice questions to be prepared, which will be available online or in paper format (to be collected in the tutoring room).
Throughout the year, various events take place, such as the Pre-Term Internship, mock exams and tests, Tutoring Day, and Pep's Week. Registering for tutoring allows students to attend these events and take advantage of these opportunities to practice real-life situations or improve their well-being.
Finally, weekly office hours will be organized to respond more individually to questions or concerns from first-year students. During these two-hour slots, students will have the opportunity to interact more easily with tutors from different subjects.
I have a question, but I'm not in Montpellier/Nîmes. What should I do?
In addition to sessions and office hours during which you can interact directly with your tutors, there are several other options available for asking questions.
In addition to the lectures and multiple-choice questions for tutorials that you can find on Moodle, a Tutoring tab and a forum have been set up to provide you with as much support as possible.
In the Tutoring tab, you will have access to this year's sessions, which will be posted online as they become available, as well as past tutoring records and notes prepared by tutors and reviewed by professors.
On the Moodle forum, you can ask questions and a tutor will respond as quickly as possible.
In addition, online office hours will be held every two weeks.
Several tutors from different subjects will be assigned to a Zoom slot where you can log in to ask your questions. Finally, if you have a question for a specific tutor, you are welcome to contact them directly.
What is sponsorship?
Each year, the tutoring program offers students a mentoring system that provides them with a direct contact person in a higher year of health studies.
A matching system is set up on the registration form in order to meet the needs of the mentees. The mentor/mentee pair is matched according to lifestyle, first-year management, etc.
Sponsorship is free, like all services offered by the tutoring program, and is in high demand!
Can you pass the year with tutoring and without private prep classes?
You can successfully complete your PASS or LAS year and be admitted to MMOPK by enrolling in tutoring only. We are fortunate to work closely with professors who review and correct each session before it is published.
In addition, numerous meetings with the teaching team are organized to emphasize revision of the most important course topics. All of this gives students a comprehensive overview and a realistic preview of what will be required on exam day.
Recognized for several years by the Ministerial Accreditation, which acknowledges the actions of tutoring programs, we are, according to university surveys, the best support system for students entering their second year of MMOPK.
PASS: Can we change groups or choose our tutors?
For tutoring sessions, you are not divided into groups. A schedule is published on our networks every Friday at noon for the following week, and each session is held in two time slots (noon and evening).
For all time slots, you will have a choice of several rooms (lecture hall or ED room).
So, it's up to you to organize yourself according to your personal schedule and choose the time slot and location that suit you best.
The same applies to "choosing a tutor," since you choose the session you want to attend.
LAS: Can we sign up for tutoring even if we have already completed our health minor?
All LAS students who completed their health minor the previous year and no longer have any health courses to take (as all ECTS credits have been earned and cannot be retaken) have access to the services offered by the tutoring program.
Since you no longer have health classes, you no longer have tutoring sessions dedicated to these subjects. However, you can participate in all events organized by the tutoring program, such as mentoring, lunch sharing, and Pep's Week.
In addition, the tutoring service also organizes preparation for the oral exams in June for students who are eligible for the second group of exams. So even if you have validated your Health ECTS credits, if you are admitted to the oral exams, you will have the opportunity and the possibility of being supported by the tutoring service to prepare yourself as well as possible for this exam.
