How the university libraries and study rooms work

BU: access by reservation

After a temporary closure to reorganize their reception conditions, the UM university libraries will reopen on Thursday, November 5, 2020, under certain conditions:

  • ⚠️ Access to university libraries is limited to borrowing/returning documents and equipment and individual work on site. Access to group study rooms is therefore temporarily suspended.
  • ⚠️ Access is by appointment only: users must therefore reserve a loan/return slot or a workstation, either via Affluences or by email, depending on the university library concerned.

⚡ For reservations by email, please indicate the reason for your visit: borrowing/returning documents or working on site. Please note: written confirmation of your appointment (sent by email) is required to enter the library. This will serve as proof of your reason for visiting, along with your student card and the travel exemption certificate (available byclicking HERE).

⚠️ A quota of places for individual work on site is reserved for D4 students preparing for their ECNi exams and for PASS/PACES students. ⚠️

The lockdown has led to the suspension of extended opening hours in the evenings and at weekends. However, all services are available within the university libraries, in compliance with health measures and protective measures and equipment: access to documents, use of freely accessible computers, printing/photocopying/scanning, Wi-Fi, interlibrary loans, undifferentiated borrowing and returns, etc. Librarians are available to answer questions online: boomerang.biu-montpellier.fr

Workrooms

⚡ More information on how workrooms will operate during lockdown will be added to this article shortly.

How thesis defenses work

The thesis defense process will be impacted: only the candidate will be allowed to defend their thesis on site, in the presence of the jury, in the traditional Salle des Actes of the Historic Building. A personalized exemption certificate will be provided to the candidate.

📧 More information will be provided at a later date by email to the interns concerned.

How internships work

Semiology courses are suspended until further notice in Montpellier and Nîmes.

The DFASM1, 2, and 3 internships are continuing, and the hospital students involved are continuing their training in full within the hospital departments.

For all students who may come into contact with patients carrying SARS-CoV-2, it is important to note that strict adherence to protective measures during their internships is an effective guarantee of protection against the risk of infection.

The continuation of the health service is currently under discussion and approval by the Board of Education. More information will be available soon.

The interregional ECN exams (DFASM3) will still take place on November 20, 2020, and will be conducted remotely. The exam schedule and organizational details will be communicated by email.

Update October 23, 2020: Like the Montpellier site, the Nîmes site has just been placed on high alert.

The measures are therefore extended to the Nîmes site. See relevant paragraphs below.

Lectures

Lectures are held in person with control of the number of students present and compliance with the maximum capacity of 50% of seats occupied.

Specific provisions for PASS/PACES Montpellier

PASS: Lectures are held in person with a maximum of 50% of the room's capacity, respecting a 1-in-2 seating arrangement. Lectures will be available on Moodle during the day.

PACES: Lectures are already digitized.

Specific provisions for PASS/PACES Nîmes

PASS: Two lecture halls are available on the ADV site and one lecture hall on the Flahault site; students who cannot find seats will have access to the courses on Moodle. Access to the lecture hall will be restricted once all seats are occupied.

PACES: Lectures are already digitized.

Specific provisions for the first cycle in Montpellier

A survey will be conducted the day before classes begin to determine your position in terms of in-person attendance. Other students will be able to follow the course on Zoom or Moodle after recording, as far as possible.

Specific provisions for the first cycle in Nîmes

Lectures are held in person with a maximum of 50% of the room's capacity and respecting a 1 in 2 seating arrangement.

Students who are unable to find a place will have access to the courses on Moodle.

Specific provisions for the second cycle in Montpellier

Lectures are held in person with a limit on the number of students present (100 per lecture hall or 25 per classroom for the ADV health campus and 50% capacity for UPM classrooms and lecture halls). We therefore offer you the option of alternating between in-person and online attendance. You will receive information specific to your EU or MI from the university administrators or secretariats. Students who are unable to attend classes in person will have access to recordings as soon as possible for DFASM1 and 2 classes. For EU1 and EU 10 of DFASM3, a Zoom link will be sent to you.

For students currently enrolled in MIC, the organization remains unchanged.

Specific provisions for the second cycle in Nîmes

Lectures are held in person with a maximum of 50% of the room's capacity, occupying every other seat.

Students who are unable to find a place will have access to the courses on Moodle.

For the best-of events, large-capacity rooms or amphitheaters will be used to allow in-person attendance with attendance monitoring.

Provisions relating to the midwifery program in Montpellier

When accommodating the entire class is not compatible with the reduced capacity of 50%, classes will be held as follows:

– Odd week: Group 1 in person + Group 2 remotely
– Even week: Group 1 remote learning + Group 2 in-person learning
Teachers will therefore have to organize their classes accordingly, i.e., in a hybrid format for half of the class in person and for the other half remotely via the Zoom application.
As a reminder, group 1 corresponds to the first half of the alphabetical list of students, and group 2 corresponds to the second half. (You will receive the list of your class specifying the groups from your academic advisor shortly.)
In all cases, the distancing required by this new configuration must be respected.

Tutorials

EDs will take place in ED rooms with a maximum of 50% of seats occupied.

Specific provisions for PASS/PACES Montpellier

PASS: Tutorials are held in person with a maximum of 50% of the room's capacity, respecting a 1 in 2 seating arrangement. Only students registered in the scheduled group will be allowed to enter the classroom. You must therefore strictly adhere to the group to which you have been assigned.

An ED session will be recorded and posted on MOODLE when all sessions for an ED have been completed (i.e., at the beginning of the following week).

PACES: Tutorials are held in person with a maximum of 50% of the room's capacity, respecting a 1-in-2 seating arrangement. Only students registered in the scheduled group will be allowed to enter the classroom. You must therefore strictly adhere to the group to which you have been assigned.

If the maximum number of entries into the room is reached, additional students will be denied access but will be able to find the video of the session on Moodle.

Specific provisions for PASS/PACES Nîmes

Specific provisions for the first cycle in Nîmes

Students who are unable to find a place will have access to the courses on Moodle or, depending on the circumstances, will be able to follow the ED remotely if a ZOOM link is included in the ENT schedule.

Free EU courses are held in person for the entire group. The layout of the rooms allows for compliance with the principle of 50% of maximum capacity.

Specific provisions for the second cycle in Montpellier

Starting the week of October 12, classes and EDs will be held in a hybrid format, with 50% in person and 50% remotely via ZOOM for all grades. This link will be sent to you before classes begin.
