During the COVID-19 epidemic, some internships are continuing while others have been suspended.
Find here, according to your profile, the measures taken and the contacts to be made!
Medical students
The DFGSM 2&3 internships are canceled (i.e., the semiology internships, the health service, and the MIA and MIC internships).
For more information: med-scol-1-2@umontpellier.fr
DFASM 1, 2, and 3 internships will continue with two possible restrictions, to be decided at the discretion of the department heads hosting you:
- health reasons affecting the student (intensive care unit treating COVID-19 patients, SMIT) or the patient (nursing home),
- educational reasons due to the reorganization of services that do not allow for the student's admission.
Students who are not attending their internship must be identified and will be offered relocation within the hospital (either to another department or to participate in the fight against COVID-19, telephone support, emergency support, or support for certain departments). This relocation or reassignment will be offered according to the needs expressed by the Medical Affairs Departments or according to the internships available in consultation with the Faculty in order to have a real-time record of each student's assignment.
We ask each DFASM 1, 2, and 3 student to email their administrative advisor with information about their situation (and any changes to it):
Thomas Thieblemont in Montpellier: med-scol-1-2@umontpellier.fr
Sébastien Cousin in Nîmes: mednimes-scolarite@umontpellier.fr
Please keep the registrar's office informed of your current situation:
- you were accepted into the internship as planned, or:
- if your placement has been suspended in the assignment department (and current activity if you are a student already mobilized), or:
- if you are currently enrolled in classes (no internship scheduled) and volunteer to participate in an action.
As a reminder, in the absence of hospital activity, the rule is to apply confinement in the home closest to the place of work, with the student remaining contactable as they may be called upon at any time for reassignment.
Regarding the movement of hospital students:
A travel certificate will be sent to you by email by the medical affairs departments (DAM) so that you can travel to your internship. This allows you to travel between home and work only.
The internship program continues under the same conditions as before. Some interns may be reassigned to certain departments in the subdivision that are experiencing pressure, on a voluntary basis, coordinated by the medical affairs departments (DAM). We would like to thank all of our interns for their dedication to patients during this time of crisis.
Students from other programs
You are a student in midwifery, paramedical studies (speech therapy, orthoptics), or a master's program. Here are the guidelines for your internships.
Internships in the 4th and 5th years will continue as planned. Instructions will be sent directly to students by email regarding their assignments.
Internships are suspended until further notice.
Internships are suspended and information is available on the UM website.
Internships abroad are suspended until further notice. No internship agreements will be signed.
If you are abroad and currently on an internship, please contact the Faculty via its international relations department for recommendations: med-ri@umontpellier.fr
If your internship is suspended: #StayHome
In any case, regardless of your field of study, if your internship is temporarily or permanently suspended, we ask that you follow government guidelines and #StayHome.
Staying home will help support the work of our healthcare workers by limiting the number of infections, and therefore the number of patients in hospital wards. We are counting on your support to limit the consequences of this epidemic. Protect yourself and your loved ones, stay at home, adopt protective measures, respect social distancing rules, and only go out when necessary.
You can also join the civic reserve to participate in the collective effort:
Finally, the Faculty will be there for you throughout this period: providing important information, social connections, activity suggestions, and even help with your revision. Don't forget to follow us on social media: @FacultemedMPL on Twitter and @FacMedecineMtpNîmes on Facebook!
