The subject of sexual and sexist violence has never been so present since #balanceyourpig, as hypersexualized society imposes its codes of sexual freedom but also of performance in this area. How, under the injunction to be sexually very active, can we find our own limits and those of others? In representations, sexual violence is either denied or associated with the most atrocious events, whereas in reality it is more commonplace and more frequent.
It's easy to understand sexual assault when physical coercion is involved. It's more complex when there's psychological coercion, in a controlling relationship, or under the guise of group pressure at a party. Is the concept of consent always easy to understand? What is the gray zone? How do you act as a victim, or even as a "simple" witness?
That's why the Montpellier Nîmes medical school has set up a two-hour training course for second-year medical students, run by Dr. BAIS Céline, a psychiatrist, and Ms. Teillard-Dirat, a psychologist from the CRIAVS-LR (Centre Ressource pour les Intervenants auprès des Auteurs de Violence Sexuelle Languedoc-Roussillon) team.
The aim is not only to raise students' awareness of sexual violence, but also to help them understand the capacity to consent, relationships of power or authority, social or group pressure and the representations surrounding the phenomenon.
Theoretical presentations, exchanges of experience and instructional videos provided the backdrop for this essential reminder via compulsory teaching.
Throughout the academic year, the Montpellier-Nîmes Faculty of Medicine organizes OSCEs (Objective and Structured Clinical Examinations) for its students.
These examinations simulate the management of a clinical situation, in the presence of a "patient" called a "standardized participant".
We recruit these participants.
You'll find all the information you need, from training to the role he'll play in student exams, on the standardized participants page.
If this activity holds no secrets for you, you can go straight to apply at.
Students need you.
The SPES (Soins Primaires Environnement et Santé) program is part of the University Department of General Medicine at the Montpellier-Nîmes Faculty of Medicine.
With the aim of enabling PASS and LAS students to anticipate their year of health study as effectively as possible, the Stage de Pré-Rentrée (SPR) is a flagship event for the Montpellier-Nîmes Faculty of Medicine's tutoring associations.
A consultation for doudou?
Every year since 2002, our medical, midwifery and speech therapy students (via the ACM, AMESF and Dislalie corpos) have joined forces with pharmacy, dental, physiotherapy and occupational therapy students to organize an event as unique in its gentleness as it is in its usefulness: the Teddy Bear Hospital.
The concept? Health students welcome kindergarten children from underprivileged neighborhoods to introduce them to the world of hospitals and health examinations in a playful setting: their cuddly toys will be the patients for the day!
An enduring goal
The aim of this event? To demystify health consultations. As we know, the medical environment can be very intimidating and impressive, all the more so for children... With this operation, the students hope to change the cold and frightening vision of the doctor that most people have.
A multi-disciplinary hospital
Taking place this year from April 11 to 13, the operation will feature a mini care trail for the children's stuffed animals, spread across 12 kindergarten classes. A veritable "mini-hospital"!
The program included no fewer than 15 multidisciplinary care stands! To prepare for mediation with children, the students manning the stands received special training from a child psychiatrist at Montpellier University Hospital.
