Cinéthique poster 2019-20

As every year, the Faculty is delighted to welcome the organizers of Cin'éthique, a program born of collaboration between the Association Carabine Montpelliéraine (ACM) and the Espace Régional de Réflexion Ethique Languedoc-Roussillon, itself housed within our Faculty. Its vocation is to stimulate ethical reflection on healthcare issues by comparing clinical reality with its artistic representation. Here's the program for the new academic year!

Detailed program for the evening of October 1, 2020

The first Cin éthique session of the 2019/2020 academic year, will be held this Tuesday, October 1 at 7:30pm in the Faculty of Medicine's Anatomy Amphitheater.

The principle is simple: a film followed by a conference-debate on a health theme, addressing ethical issues and comparing the points of view of doctors, patients and members of civil society. Admission is free and open to all.

For this session, the film will be "Ma compagne de nuit", by Isabelle Brocard, 2011

  • Synopsis: Julia, a seemingly happy architect, decides to employ a housekeeper. But the young woman soon realizes that Julia has terminal cancer and needs companionship to end her days. A deep and powerful bond gradually unites the two women as they share their final moments together...

This was followed by a discussion on the theme of "Cancer and caregivers: towards a redefinition of care", bringing together a panel of various players directly or indirectly affected by this issue:

  • Pr. Nadine HOUEDE (Professor of Oncology, ICG - Nîmes)
  • Dr. Virginie Perrotin (Doctor in palliative care, ICM - Montpellier)
  • Ms Anne-Chantal Granier (palliative care nurse, ICM - Montpellier)
  • Association Vivre comme avant (Montpellier)

Through the prism of cancer in the palliative phase, we will address the concept of the caregiver (professional, volunteer, parent, relative) and its necessary recognition, particularly in the context of chronic illnesses. It will also provide an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between expert and lay knowledge, professional care and "amateur" care (in the noble sense of the term).
