#AssoDeLaSemaine - Meeting with the CNESF
After our meeting with Dis-Lalie, the Montpellier-based association for the Speech Therapy stream, this week we meet up with the CNESF, the association for the Maïeutics stream in Nîmes!
In a few words, what is the CNESF?
The Corporation Nîmoise des Étudiants.e.s Sages-Femme (Nîmes Midwifery Students' Association) is an association governed by the French Law of 1901, whose aim is to represent Nîmes midwifery students and to represent their interests within federations such as ANESF (Association Nationale Des Étudiants.e.s Sages-Femmes, our branch federation) and AGEM (Association Générale des Étudiants Montpelliérains, our regional federation). It also aims to listen to Nîmes midwifery students, advise them where possible, and defend their rights and interests. Our association energizes the student life of our members by organizing solidarity and prevention events, as well as festive, sporting and cultural events. Finally, it aims to enhance our skills as future healthcare professionals through access to complementary training.

What activities or actions do you organize throughout the year?
We try to broaden our actions as much as possible thanks to the association's the association:
Visit public health division organized cinema/café debates, for example, to discuss themes topics such as female genital mutilation and adoption under X, in partnership with Sémaphore de Nîmes.
To mark the annual campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer screening, we created a calendar for Pink October. It shares messages of prevention and information, and the money raised was donated to the Ligue Contre le Cancer. We also took part in the Telethon alongside medical students.
Thanks to the development of network communication, we have created posters for world days, such as the one in collaboration with ANESF for World Contraception Day, and information quizzes on various themes are also available. We have also been able to set up a tutorial system between the different classes, which will be further developed next year.
A number of festive and unifying events were organized, notably the end-of-year gala, which unfortunately could not take place. As last year, we continued to develop our babysitting network. As regards the AGEM and ANESF, we are present on site or remotely at every board meeting and general assembly, representing Nîmes midwifery students in the positions we take.
Monthly tea parties are organized to donate proceeds to charities, to which we also donate children's clothing and equipment.
Last but not least, we took part in the PEPS week organized by the Tutorat Santé Nîmes this year, as well as the Salon de l'Etudiant (student fair) and the Faculty Open Day, to try and answer as many questions as possible from future students.
Why did you personally choose the Maïeutics stream, and what does the association bring to students in this stream?

In my opinion, it's a course of study that you choose out of passion. The studies are long and require a significant investment, particularly in the many internships. But the accompaniment of couples, mothers, women and even babies makes the diversity of our profession, and that's what attracted me. We have a wide range of skills, whether in the private or public sector, we can accompany women throughout pregnancy, childbirth and the post-partum period (if there are no pathologies). We can also provide preventive gynecology and contraception consultations. We live through sometimes difficult situations, but intense moments of life and emotion are there to remind us why we started.
As for the association, it enables us to meet up, whether at the local office or at events, and to train, through the training courses offered by ANESF or AGEM. Members can also keep abreast of national news, which we relay on a regular basis. For those who want to get involved in student life, it's a great way of fulfilling your projects, while collaborating with other students.
Why do you think you should join your association?
Joining our association is above all a gesture of support. We represent midwifery students in the life of the faculty. Membership enables us to keep abreast of events and to establish links with other associations within and outside the Faculty. In fact, membership of both AGEM and ANESF enables you to keep abreast of debates within these associations, and potentially have an impact by giving your opinion on issues. It's a chance to feel involved in the future of the profession and student life in the region, but also to raise issues more generally.
Membership is also the only way to vote at general meetings, for the future teams future teams who will represent you over the next few terms. And on the fun side, membership gives you access to a maximum number of partnerships arranged by our fabulous VP Part. From laser games, to products from luneale, fempo and many more, all offering great discounts. Last but not least, we have partnerships with professional insurance companies that offer extra protection to students on work placements.

How do I join?
It's very easy to become a member: you go to our association's offices on the faculty site, between 12 and 2pm (every day), and pay 7 euros, either by cheque, cash, or even Lydia. We give you a nice little card with the contact details of our social networks. Membership is open all year round, but closes two weeks before the Annual General Meeting at the end of the term.
A few words about the 2020-2021 office?
This year, unfortunately, in view of the health situation, the handover will take place remotely. at a distance. We are in contact with the members of the board who are running for the 2020-2021 term, and are more motivated than ever. There are some exciting projects to come, and we look forward to finding out more about them. It's with a twinge of sorrow that we leave this mandate, especially with a difficult end to the year, but with total confidence in the investment of the office to come. These are motivated young women, with experience and a lot of desire, everything you need to succeed. We couldn't have left this mandate more serenely than in the face of this fine new generation!
