Heritage Days: Re-Discover the Faculty

, , ,

On the occasion of the 2021 European Heritage Days, the Historic Building and the Jardin des Plantes of the Faculty of Medicine are opening their doors to the public for guided tours. Due to the health situation, tours are only available with prior reservation. Read all about it in this article.

Update 09/17/21:

Due to a prefectoral decision linked to planned events in the city center, we are unfortunately forced to close Montpellier's Jardin des Plantes to the public on Saturday afternoon, September 18, 2021.
As a result, tours scheduled for Saturday afternoon are cancelled. Morning tours will continue.
We are very sorry for the situation and thank you for your understanding.

Sunday, September 19: Continue your cultural stroll with a visit to the historic Faculty!

After enjoying the bucolic paths of the garden, come and visit us again on Sunday September 19 to discover the Faculty of Medicine in its historic building. Two unique tours, guided by the faculty's heritage experts, will be on offer:

  • The first tour, dedicated to Anatomy, takes you through the Amador room, the former dissecting room and the Tekné Makré rooms, which house the Corps à Coeur exhibition, dedicated entirely to the anatomical specimens conserved by the Faculty (please note that the conservatory is closed and therefore not accessible as part of this tour due to renovation work).
  • A second tour takes you through the faculty's ceremonial rooms, from the Salle des Actes to the Salle du Conseil, where you can put yourself in the shoes of a future medical doctor, ready to defend his thesis!
