Because it's hard to get to grips with health studies in Montpellier, the Association du Tutorat Santé de Montpellier (ATSM) is offering a week of internships and training so that high school students can embark on these studies informed and prepared!

The program:

To mark High School Week, members of theAssociation du Tutorat Santé de Montpellier (Montpellier Health Tutoring Association) have prepared a full program to support future medical students, as well as their parents and high school teaching staff.

  • This week, dedicated to high school students, will be held from April 19 to 23, from 4 to 8 p.m., online from the Zoom! software.

  • By the end of the week, which is entirely free of charge, high school students will be familiar with the workings of the reform of access to health studies (Medicine, Maieutics, Pharmacy, Odontology, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy for the PASS)!

  • The association also offers training dedicated to secondary school teaching staff, to help them acquire the keys to guiding high school students in their choice of career path.

  • This year, high school students will be able to take full advantage of the Tutorat program, which provides them with pedagogical and moral support, entirely free of charge and supervised by faculty members!

  • Members of the ATSM association will be offering a methodology session to help students anticipate their entry into higher education. A conference, bringing together students who have successfully entered health studies, their parents and high school students and their parents, will also be on the program.

  • This week also extends to first and second year students, with a full presentation of the PASS and LAS programs, and a look at the speciality courses to be chosen.

  • For students in their final year of high school, tutors will review the key points of the high school curriculum to ensure a solid foundation.

Practical information:

Despite the announcement of the confinement, the Faculty's associations have managed to support our students through this ordeal by setting up superb actions throughout the month of November. Focus on the November edition!

The mustache in the spotlight!

November is often associated with Movember, a movement to raise awareness of men's diseases.

Our associations got involved and shared their best moustaches on their networks while raising awareness of prostate cancer!

Positivity rhymes with activity!

We can never say it often enough: sport is good for your health! ASMM understands this, offering twice-weekly sports sessions on the zoom app to keep in touch with its subscribers, which is essential to avoid isolation.

Revision and homework require organization if you are to achieve your goals. ASMM' s Yoga Lives and AMESF' s Positive Thoughts have accompanied our students in this new way of working, offering them a bubble of positive energy.

Committed to action!

The Crocos du Monde association was able to take part in the "maraudes" organized by Samu solidaire to help the most destitute and homeless by offering them a hot meal and simply a little comfort.

November was also tobacco-free month. AMESF was there to raise awareness of the risks of smoking during pregnancy.

Your tutorials, more than ever at your side

Finally, we'd like to end this article by mentioning the continuity of services provided by your tutors, who did not fail in their mission during the lockdown. By offering dematerialized tutoring sessions, remote exams and a virtual BU, your tutors have once again shown no lack of creativity in supporting our PASS and PACES students as they approach their first-semester exams!

What's more, the tutorials organized sharing sessions and a "parent tutorial" conference to support the parents of future PASS students. This initiative was greatly appreciated by the 50 families who attended the remote event.

Next event: the Tutoscars, the mock exams organized by the UM's 3 talented health tutorials: ATSM, TSN and ATP, on December 5 and 19 for PACES and PASS students.

Once again, our associations have made us proud of themselves, their actions and our students. See you soon to discover their actions for the month of December! #Proud of our students

After having met with the Tutorat Santé Nîmois, this week we meet with the Association Tutorat Santé de Montpellier and its new president Milla Esclafit-Cardoso!

In a few words, what is the AssociationTutorat Santé Montpellier?

The Tutorat is made up of 2nd and 3rd year healthcare students who have passed the PACES entrance exam, and who have been selected and trained for a year by the professors in charge of the year's program. Our aim is to provide free, high-quality pedagogical and moral support to all students from the University of Montpellier and its branches wishing to enter health studies. To meet this demand, three associations are at your disposal: the Association du Tutorat Santé de Montpellier, the Association des Tuteurs en Pharmacie, and the Tutorat Santé Nîmois.

These three associations pool their resources to provide equitable support for all students, sharing the same objective of equal opportunity in the face of selection for entry to health studies.

What activities or actions do you organize throughout the year?

To get the year off on the right foot, we're offering a Pre-Reentry Course open this year to all PACES and PASS students: the aim is to review the entire first semester program, help students acquire an effective work methodology, and introduce them to the faculty so they can find their feet.

Each week, we review the key points of a given course in the form of MCQs re-read by the teachers: these sessions are split into several slots so that students can adjust their timetable to suit their availability. To answer any questions, there is a drop-in service every lunchtime at the university, and a forum is also available to students.

To enable regular, representative assessment, we organize weekly graded tests for around 900 students at the three sites, as well as mock competitions, which this year attracted over 1,600 students in the first semester.

To adapt to the confinement situation and the health measures, we produced our sessions and colles in dematerialized live Zoom, which we recorded so that PACES students with unstable internet connections could view them. We have also developed our YouTube channel to diversify our audience. content from a distance, emphasizing points in the course that we found difficult to understand.

In addition to pedagogical support, we support students through a demanding year by promoting activities centered on Well-Being: board game lunches, relaxation tutorials... Our biggest Well-Being event is Pep's Week, which takes place at the beginning of January, in a particularly difficult period for PACES students. So that first-year students can have contact with a student from a year above, we set up a sponsorship system between students at the start of the year.

To further promote equal opportunities, the Tutorat is working withHandiversité to offer a disability service for students needing special arrangements for sessions or tests.

Finally, in a context of reform, we are at the same time the privileged interlocutors within the university by organizing orientation forums, but also on a local scale at various student fairs, and on a national scale by taking part in congresses bringing together tutorats in France.

What prompted you to join the association?

Tutoring helped me to pass my PACES exam by supporting me for two years: this support was extremely valuable to me, as I couldn't afford the services of a private organization. The availability of the tutors, the quality of the sessions, and above all the support on all aspects of PACES life (revision, lifestyle, morale...) really got me through this trying period. It was an obvious choice for me to apply for tutoring after my admission to the second year of medicine, so I was delighted to join the UE7 (Health, Humanities, Society) team. My year as a trainee tutor was so fulfilling that I wanted to continue the adventure by running for the tutoring office to help it get a facelift during the reform year: we therefore changed our name from Association du Tutorat Médecine de Montpellier (ATM²), to Association du Tutorat Santé de Montpellier (ATSM) to better match this desire to diversify the profiles on entry to all health courses!

What does the association offer students?

Our aim is to provide real support for young adults who are discovering college, a life far from home and a heavy workload at the same time. Our primary value is equality of opportunity, so that selection for this first year is based on ability to work and not on financial situation. More generally, this ties in with our duty of brotherhood, which we hold dear in the healthcare professions, and our training, which is largely based on peer training. We are first and foremost students who have been through this ordeal ourselves, and we try to help the PACES students as we would have needed to help them!

Why do you think you should join your association?

In the first year, you can sign up for free tutoring throughout the year: there's no obligation to attend, but attending 80% of the tutoring sessions is, according to faculty surveys, the best way to pass your entrance exam!

If you'd like to join ATSM as a tutor, you'll have the opportunity to be selected by application and interview after your second semester results. You will then have the status of Trainee Tutor during your second year, and can continue as a Qualified Tutor when you move on to your third year.

A few words about the 2020-2021 office?

The AGM to hand over our new board took place on June 9: we're all very excited about the prospect of renewing our offer to look after PACES, PASS and LAS double-baccalaureate students. We know that this can be a daunting year for new graduates, and we're ready to support them through this change.

We're in transition for the name change, so for the time being it's our old name that's appearing on the networks:
