After having met with the Tutorat Santé Nîmois, this week we meet with the Association Tutorat Santé de Montpellier and its new president Milla Esclafit-Cardoso!

In a few words, what is the AssociationTutorat Santé Montpellier?

The Tutorat is made up of 2nd and 3rd year healthcare students who have passed the PACES entrance exam, and who have been selected and trained for a year by the professors in charge of the year's program. Our aim is to provide free, high-quality pedagogical and moral support to all students from the University of Montpellier and its branches wishing to enter health studies. To meet this demand, three associations are at your disposal: the Association du Tutorat Santé de Montpellier, the Association des Tuteurs en Pharmacie, and the Tutorat Santé Nîmois.

These three associations pool their resources to provide equitable support for all students, sharing the same objective of equal opportunity in the face of selection for entry to health studies.

What activities or actions do you organize throughout the year?

To get the year off on the right foot, we're offering a Pre-Reentry Course open this year to all PACES and PASS students: the aim is to review the entire first semester program, help students acquire an effective work methodology, and introduce them to the faculty so they can find their feet.

Each week, we review the key points of a given course in the form of MCQs re-read by the teachers: these sessions are split into several slots so that students can adjust their timetable to suit their availability. To answer any questions, there is a drop-in service every lunchtime at the university, and a forum is also available to students.

To enable regular, representative assessment, we organize weekly graded tests for around 900 students at the three sites, as well as mock competitions, which this year attracted over 1,600 students in the first semester.

To adapt to the confinement situation and the health measures, we produced our sessions and colles in dematerialized live Zoom, which we recorded so that PACES students with unstable internet connections could view them. We have also developed our YouTube channel to diversify our audience. content from a distance, emphasizing points in the course that we found difficult to understand.

In addition to pedagogical support, we support students through a demanding year by promoting activities centered on Well-Being: board game lunches, relaxation tutorials... Our biggest Well-Being event is Pep's Week, which takes place at the beginning of January, in a particularly difficult period for PACES students. So that first-year students can have contact with a student from a year above, we set up a sponsorship system between students at the start of the year.

To further promote equal opportunities, the Tutorat is working withHandiversité to offer a disability service for students needing special arrangements for sessions or tests.

Finally, in a context of reform, we are at the same time the privileged interlocutors within the university by organizing orientation forums, but also on a local scale at various student fairs, and on a national scale by taking part in congresses bringing together tutorats in France.

What prompted you to join the association?

Tutoring helped me to pass my PACES exam by supporting me for two years: this support was extremely valuable to me, as I couldn't afford the services of a private organization. The availability of the tutors, the quality of the sessions, and above all the support on all aspects of PACES life (revision, lifestyle, morale...) really got me through this trying period. It was an obvious choice for me to apply for tutoring after my admission to the second year of medicine, so I was delighted to join the UE7 (Health, Humanities, Society) team. My year as a trainee tutor was so fulfilling that I wanted to continue the adventure by running for the tutoring office to help it get a facelift during the reform year: we therefore changed our name from Association du Tutorat Médecine de Montpellier (ATM²), to Association du Tutorat Santé de Montpellier (ATSM) to better match this desire to diversify the profiles on entry to all health courses!

What does the association offer students?

Our aim is to provide real support for young adults who are discovering college, a life far from home and a heavy workload at the same time. Our primary value is equality of opportunity, so that selection for this first year is based on ability to work and not on financial situation. More generally, this ties in with our duty of brotherhood, which we hold dear in the healthcare professions, and our training, which is largely based on peer training. We are first and foremost students who have been through this ordeal ourselves, and we try to help the PACES students as we would have needed to help them!

Why do you think you should join your association?

In the first year, you can sign up for free tutoring throughout the year: there's no obligation to attend, but attending 80% of the tutoring sessions is, according to faculty surveys, the best way to pass your entrance exam!

If you'd like to join ATSM as a tutor, you'll have the opportunity to be selected by application and interview after your second semester results. You will then have the status of Trainee Tutor during your second year, and can continue as a Qualified Tutor when you move on to your third year.

A few words about the 2020-2021 office?

The AGM to hand over our new board took place on June 9: we're all very excited about the prospect of renewing our offer to look after PACES, PASS and LAS double-baccalaureate students. We know that this can be a daunting year for new graduates, and we're ready to support them through this change.

We're in transition for the name change, so for the time being it's our old name that's appearing on the networks:

Association des Tuteurs en Pharmacie :

In collaboration with the three Tutorats, we have also prepared a video presentation for you!

Earlier in the week, we met with the CNESF, the association of Nîmes' Maïeutique sector. We're staying in Nîmes today for our meeting with Matthias Daudé, the new president of TSN!

In a few words, what is the Tutorat Santé Nîmois?

The TSN (Tutorat Santé Nîmes) is an association of students in their 2nd and 3rd year of Medicine and Maieutics at the Nîmes site. We have all successfully passed the entrance exam for health studies, and it is on the strength of this experience that we offer support for students embarking on a first year of health access (PASS/LAS).

What activities or actions do you organize throughout the year?

Over the course of the year, students are offered weekly practice sessions in the form of MCQs, during which the tutors correct the MCQs in detail, provide mnemonics, work tips and support in exam preparation. All sessions are proofread by the tutors to ensure that they are as close as possible to final exam expectations.

In addition, we organize a Pre-Reentry course during the last two weeks of August. During these two weeks, we cover the program for the first semester, while giving as much advice as possible on the methodology to follow in this year of hard work.

We also offer practice tests and mock exams to prepare students for the exams with questions that have been re-read by our teachers.

What prompted you to join the association?

When I started studying healthcare, I didn't know about tutoring. At university, I soon heard about the association and the support it offered. I went along to one of the sessions and immediately saw the benefits this organization could bring me.

After passing the PACES entrance exam and entering health studies, I wanted to join the tutoring scheme to pass on my personal experience of the first year. I wanted to be able to help as many students as possible to progress towards their dream. It was natural for me to do everything I could to give back what I had received during my first year, because without tutoring I would never have passed the competitive entrance exam.

What does the association offer students?

The TSN provides PACES students with real pedagogical support through training sessions and question-and-answer sessions, as well as moral support by organizing activities for students. We also have a mentoring system where 2nd and 3rd year students take 1st year students under their wings to help them succeed.

Why do you think you should join your association?

Our association offers a wide range of educational and personal support services to help students make progress towards their goal of passing the entrance exams for the second year of health studies.

How do I join?

Tutoring is a totally free association! To join the tutoring program, all you have to do is follow the registration procedure, which will be detailed on our personal networks and on the faculty's registration page.

A few words about the 2020-2021 office?

For the TSN association, the election of the executive committee takes place in 2 phases.

It all starts with the formation of the Bureau Restreint (BR). Once the BR candidates have been formed, the campaign period begins, during which the various teams present their projects for the year. This year, because of the health crisis, all elections and campaigns took place online. Once the campaigns are over, all the 2nd and 3rd year tutors elect a BR, who then goes on to elect the other positions on the Board.

Once all the positions have been presented by BR, each tutor wishing to join the office prepares an application for the position. Nominations take place over a week. After this campaign period, the BR organizes the vote for positions with several candidates.

You can find us now on our social networks!

To conclude, we leave you with a video prepared with the three Montpellier Health Tutorates: the Association du Tutorat Santé de Montpellier (ATSM), the Association des Tuteurs en Pharmacie (ATP), and ourselves, the Tutorat Santé Nîmois (TSN)!

After our meeting with Dis-Lalie, the Montpellier-based association for the Speech Therapy stream, this week we meet up with the CNESF, the association for the Maïeutics stream in Nîmes!

In a few words, what is the CNESF?

The Corporation Nîmoise des Étudiants.e.s Sages-Femme (Nîmes Midwifery Students' Association) is an association governed by the French Law of 1901, whose aim is to represent Nîmes midwifery students and to represent their interests within federations such as ANESF (Association Nationale Des Étudiants.e.s Sages-Femmes, our branch federation) and AGEM (Association Générale des Étudiants Montpelliérains, our regional federation). It also aims to listen to Nîmes midwifery students, advise them where possible, and defend their rights and interests. Our association energizes the student life of our members by organizing solidarity and prevention events, as well as festive, sporting and cultural events. Finally, it aims to enhance our skills as future healthcare professionals through access to complementary training.

What activities or actions do you organize throughout the year?

We try to broaden our actions as much as possible thanks to the association's the association:

Visit public health division organized cinema/café debates, for example, to discuss themes topics such as female genital mutilation and adoption under X, in partnership with Sémaphore de Nîmes.

To mark the annual campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer screening, we created a calendar for Pink October. It shares messages of prevention and information, and the money raised was donated to the Ligue Contre le Cancer. We also took part in the Telethon alongside medical students.

Thanks to the development of network communication, we have created posters for world days, such as the one in collaboration with ANESF for World Contraception Day, and information quizzes on various themes are also available. We have also been able to set up a tutorial system between the different classes, which will be further developed next year.

A number of festive and unifying events were organized, notably the end-of-year gala, which unfortunately could not take place. As last year, we continued to develop our babysitting network. As regards the AGEM and ANESF, we are present on site or remotely at every board meeting and general assembly, representing Nîmes midwifery students in the positions we take.

Monthly tea parties are organized to donate proceeds to charities, to which we also donate children's clothing and equipment.

Last but not least, we took part in the PEPS week organized by the Tutorat Santé Nîmes this year, as well as the Salon de l'Etudiant (student fair) and the Faculty Open Day, to try and answer as many questions as possible from future students.

Why did you personally choose the Maïeutics stream, and what does the association bring to students in this stream?

In my opinion, it's a course of study that you choose out of passion. The studies are long and
require a significant investment, particularly in the many internships. But the accompaniment of couples, mothers, women and even babies makes the diversity of our profession, and that's what attracted me. We have a wide range of skills, whether in the private or public sector, we can accompany women throughout pregnancy, childbirth and the post-partum period (if there are no pathologies). We can also provide preventive gynecology and contraception consultations. We live through sometimes difficult situations, but intense moments of life and emotion are there to remind us why we started.

As for the association, it enables us to meet up, whether at the local office or at events, and to train, through the training courses offered by ANESF or AGEM. Members can also keep abreast of national news, which we relay on a regular basis. For those who want to get involved in student life, it's a great way of fulfilling your projects, while collaborating with other students.

Why do you think you should join your association?

Joining our association is above all a gesture of support. We represent midwifery students in the life of the faculty. Membership enables us to keep abreast of events and to establish links with other associations within and outside the Faculty. In fact, membership of both AGEM and ANESF enables you to keep abreast of debates within these associations, and potentially have an impact by giving your opinion on issues. It's a chance to feel involved in the future of the profession and student life in the region, but also to raise issues more generally.

Membership is also the only way to vote at general meetings, for the future teams future teams who will represent you over the next few terms. And on the fun side, membership gives you access to a maximum number of partnerships arranged by our fabulous VP Part. From laser games, to products from luneale, fempo and many more, all offering great discounts. Last but not least, we have partnerships with professional insurance companies that offer extra protection to students on work placements.

How do I join?

It's very easy to become a member: you go to our association's offices on the faculty site, between 12 and 2pm (every day), and pay 7 euros, either by cheque, cash, or even Lydia. We give you a nice little card with the contact details of our social networks. Membership is open all year round, but closes two weeks before the Annual General Meeting at the end of the term.

A few words about the 2020-2021 office?

This year, unfortunately, in view of the health situation, the handover will take place remotely. at a distance. We are in contact with the members of the board who are running for the 2020-2021 term, and are more motivated than ever. There are some exciting projects to come, and we look forward to finding out more about them. It's with a twinge of sorrow that we leave this mandate, especially with a difficult end to the year, but with total confidence in the investment of the office to come. These are motivated young women, with experience and a lot of desire, everything you need to succeed. We couldn't have left this mandate more serenely than in the face of this fine new generation!

As we've already seen, the Ademmoos association brings together the elected representatives of every sector! This week, we turn our attention to Montpellier's speech therapists with the Dis-Lalie association!

In a few words, what is the Dis-lalie association?

Dis-Lalie, created in 1998, is the association of Montpellier speech therapy students. The association's aims are to promote student life through a variety of events, and to represent Montpellier's speech therapy students in the federations to which Dis-Lalie belongs, namely FNEO (fédération nationale des étudiants en orthophonie) and AGEM (association générale des étudiants Montpelliérains), to help students prepare for their professional integration through conferences, training courses and meetings with partners and healthcare professionals, and to support students in defending their rights and the smooth running of their training with university and local authorities.

What activities or actions do you organize throughout the year?

Throughout the year, Dis-Lalie organizes events for its student members:

  • Cohesion moments A wide range of activities are organized to encourage team spirit: team-building weekends and afternoons, parties, meals, ski weekends, end-of-year ceremonies, participation in graduation ceremonies for new graduates...
  • Speech therapy training Conferences (on Alzheimer's disease, lip-reading, stuttering, etc.), training courses and workshops related to the profession (drawing training, accounting, etc.).
  • Wellness events workshops in sophrology and yoga.
  • Cultural events Montpellier city tours, visits to the anatomy conservatory, hikes around Montpellier, beer/chocolate tastings...
  • Prevention, citizenship and solidarity events: cake sales for the week of the telethon, pink october and sidaction, with profits going to associations, toy collection for hospitalized children at Christmas, collection of plastic corks to be reused to make equipment for the disabled, participation in the teddy bear hospital...

Dis-Lalie also supports students throughout their studies. Whether it's offering discounts on speech therapy equipment through our partnerships with publishing houses, or introducing students to the social and mobility assistance available to them. We also help students wishing to spend a semester abroad with the administrative formalities. Dis-Lalie also helps students wishing to enter the university training program in speech-language pathology by publishing testimonials from speech-language pathology students via social networks, and by providing accommodation for candidates during the oral exam in particular.

Why did you personally choose the Speech Therapy stream, and what does the association bring to students in this stream?

Personally, I chose the speech therapy pathway because it's a profession based on care and, above all, rehabilitation. I chose speech therapy because it's a profession based on care and, above all, rehabilitation, which enables me to observe real progress in patients, thanks in particular to speech therapy. It's a highly varied field. Patients are of all ages, and the pathologies and rehabilitation methods are highly diversified. For example, speech therapists can work with newborns with oral language disorders, children with learning difficulties (dyslexia, dysorthographia, dyscalculia...), as well as patients suffering from neurological diseases, deafness, post-stroke or even post-covid! So it's a profession in which every treatment is different, which offers the choice of working in a facility or in private practice, and gives us the opportunity to train throughout our career in a wide variety of pathologies.

Why do you think you should join your association?

Our association enables Montpellier speech-language pathology students to get together at various events, promoting cohesion and sharing between students at our training center. Membership of Dis-Lalie offers many privileges to students:

  • Discounts or free admission to events organized by the association
  • Access to conferences and training courses on speech therapy, organized by our VP Formations
  • Preferential rates from companies we partner with: insurance companies, publishing houses...
  • Reduced or free travel to events organized by FNEO (training weekends and national congresses).
  • Opportunity to take part in all cohesion, cultural and well-being events organized by the association
  • Voting rights at General Meetings

How do I join?

Membership is taken out each year in September. The membership fee is €11 for 2019-2020.

A few words about the 2020-2021 office?

The election of the 2020-2021 Board of Directors takes place at the end of October at the General Meeting. The election of the new Dis-Lalie Board will take place on a position-by-position basis. Each candidate will be able to present his or her motivation to the meeting. Each year, the executive committee is made up of two co-presidents, a secretary, a treasurer, a vice-president in charge of communications, a vice-president in charge of training, a vice-president in charge of international mobility, a vice-president in charge of social issues, a vice-president in charge of culture, a vice-president in charge of the environment, a vice-president in charge of the environment, a vice-president in charge of the environment.e in charge of culture, a vice-president in charge of partnerships, a vice-president in charge of student representation, vice-presidents in charge of events, vice-presidents in charge of evening events, vice-presidents in charge of prevention, citizenship and solidarity, an admissions officer.

Here are our contacts, and don't hesitate to find us on our networks:

Last week, we met up with the Association Carabins Montpelliéraine to find out more about the associative life of medical students.. Today, Salomé Duteurtre, the student Vice-Dean, answers our questions!

In a few words, what is ADEMMOOS?

ADEMMOOS is the Montpellier-Nîmes Association of Elected Students in Medicine, Speech Therapy, Orthoptics and Midwifery. It brings together nearly 40 elected student representatives from the various fields.

We work on a daily basis:

  • at Interprofessional All the faculty's disciplines are represented;
  • at Intersitethrough collaboration between Montpellier and Nîmes;
  • for Represent all UFR students with the administration, faculty and CHU.

What activities or actions do you organize throughout the year?

Above all, our year is punctuated by our student representation activities.

We are represented on 2 major faculty councils:

  • Visit pedagogical council provides a forum for dialogue between the faculty's various players (teaching staff, administrative staff and students) on the subject of the courses offered by the UFR. It is used to discuss, among other things, the terms and conditions of knowledge assessment and the re-evaluation of teaching tools.
  • Visit board of management is the faculty's decision-making body, which votes on and revises internal regulations, the budget, faculty agreements and training projects.

Our aim is to make the student voice heard, often through the use of polls, which enable us to gather the opinions and positions of students on the various issues that arise during the academic year.

We are also involved in a wide range of projects designed to improve our training conditions. For example, several of our actions concern health promotion:

  • Improving student well-being in all its forms is one of our priorities. In the context of our challenging and demanding courses, some students may find themselves in difficulty: we try to support them and redirect them to the appropriate support services.
  • We communicate about flu vaccination to encourage students, future caregivers, to get vaccinated. In particular, we organized a vaccination day on the faculty premises.

We also support initiatives to promote student life on campus. We are present at Open Days and European Heritage Days to lead tours and talk with the public. But we also contribute to the development of living and working spaces.

For example, during the Covid crisis, we kept students regularly informed about the situation and the reorganization of our courses.

We help medical students choose their specialties through the Forum du Futur Interne (FFI), which we organize in conjunction with the Syndicat des Internes du Languedoc Roussillon.

Finally, we work with all the faculty's student associations:

  • We support student-led teaching and support projects: PACES tutorials, medical and midwifery postgraduate tutorials, iECN preparation conferences...
  • We participate in student representation at both local (AGEM) and national levels in our respective industry associations.

What does the association offer students?

Our association promotes several things:

  • the support and representation of all students enrolled in the UFR Médecine de Montpellier-Nîmes of the University of Montpellier;
  • promoting the improvement of student living conditions (in terms of quality of studies and educational offer) within the UFR by establishing a permanent dialogue between students, their elected representatives and the associations, of all streams, belonging to the UFR;
  • the bringing together of students from different parts of the UFR, notably through the development of joint student initiatives, in order to go beyond the divisions inherent in the different curricula and to offer emulation through the synergy of different skills.

What's more, no financial contribution is required from students. The simple fact of being registered with the UFR enables students to benefit from all the activities offered by our association.

A few words about the 2020-2021 office?

Our association's executive committee is made up of students, whether or not they have been elected to the UFR, who are appointed for one year, from October to October, to coordinate the team of student representatives.

Renewal for 2020-2021 will begin in the summer: don't hesitate to contact the current board if you're interested in one of the positions!

Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about student representation!

The MUSE ("Montpellier Université d'Excellence") project brings together 19 institutions committed to advances and educational innovation. Today, several projects led by faculty members have been selected as winners and will be financed by the foundation.

Towards new training courses: TakeOff #3

A call for projects has been launched by the MUSE Foundation to strengthen pedagogical innovation, particularly in the transformation and creation of new training courses. The aim is simple: to get as close as possible to the current demands of the job market and the needs of society, and even to anticipate future needs as society changes.

Of the 30 projects selected, 3 come from the Faculty of Medicine, and will therefore be allocated a budget to bring them to fruition.

  • The " Development of educational tools to support the training of advanced practice nurses in Onco-hematology "led by Nadine Houede.
  • The " Rabelais Health-Science Double Curriculum "by Stephan Matecki
  • The " Université d'été montpelliéraine initiatique chirurgicale "led by Astrid Herrero.

Supported for 3 academic years, these projects will enable us to train our students ever more effectively!

And adapted teaching tools: TakeOff #4

In addition to these new training courses, the Muse Foundation also supports innovative teaching equipment projects. To ensure continuity in teaching, the working environment must also be adapted.

As a result, 3 other Faculty projects, this time involving innovative new equipment, have been selected:

  • A " Application for pedagogical monitoring of learning and performing technical procedures in medicine "developed by Antoine Debourdeau and Valentin Favier.
  • A " Sound and visual immersion in a healthcare simulation training session "by Blaise Debien.
  • A project on " The interest of acquiring a digital surgical simulator for the implementation of the 2021-2023 medical studies reform. Learning and Certification of a diploma in surgery outside the operating theatre "by Astrid Herrero and François Régis Souche.

In the coming years, the Faculty of Medicine will be introducing a host of new teaching methods and tools!

A commitment to innovation already in place: TakeOff#1 and TakeOff#2

Two other calls for projects launched by the I-Site Muse had already taken place. These were TakeOff#1 and TakeOff2.

Here again, the Faculty was responsive, and some of its proposals won awards. Firstly, in the first call for proposals, TakeOff#1

  • The creation of the " International DIU: Emerging Infections proposed by Éric Delaporte.
  • The creation of a "Digital Laboratory for Preclinical Sciencesled by Fares Gouzi.
  • A proposal "Learning anatomy and surgery through simulation and 3D printingby Valentin Favier.
  • A "Surgical Pedagogy in Extended Realitysupported by Nicolas Lonjona.
  • A project for "Craft know-how for innovation in medical simulationby Astrid Herrero.

Then, in a second phase, during the TakeOff#2 call for projects:

  • The "Master International One Health and Infectious Diseaseswhich follows on from the DIU International created thanks to TakeOff#1.
  • The creation of an "interdisciplinary educational Escape Game in a simulation center: Mystère à SimHU Nîmes".to develop cohesion, communication and collaboration between future healthcare professionals.
  • The creation of a "Dynamic 3D virtual dissection for teaching VESALE 3D surgical anatomyas part of our commitment to never practice on a patient for the first time.

In addition to the Association Med'Ley, this week also sees the Association Carabine Montpelliéraine (ACM) and its president, Colin Azria.

In a few words, what is the Association Carabine Montpellieraine?

The Association Carabine Montpelliéraine (or Corpo Médecine de Montpellier) is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-denominational association governed by the French law of 1901, which aims to represent Montpellier's medical students. It is the only association that officially and uniquely represents Montpellier medical students from year 1 (PACES) to year 6.

Thanks to its close links with the PACES tutoring service and the UFR Médecine teaching staff, the ACM supports students throughout their studies, offering them a range of products (books, handouts, stethoscopes and other equipment, etc.) and giving them the chance to take part in a variety of events (solidarity actions, cultural events, student parties, galas, etc.).

What's more, ACM is part of the local (Z'élus associatifs) and national(ANEMF - Association Nationale des Étudiants en Médecine de France) student representation network, bringing its demands to the attention of administrative and governmental bodies.

What activities or actions do you organize throughout the year?

The actions we take are very varied and combine all the opportunities that may arise during our studies. First of all, we've set up a direct sales service for course handouts, to make it easier for students to learn.

We are present in the national and international exchanges we set up through the ANEMF network in the form of multiple exchange programs.

For several years now, we have also been forging strong relationships with shopkeepers throughout Montpellier, who offer us "good deals". What's more, we're in the process of extending our scope of action to play a more active part in solidarity and sustainable development in our beautiful city of Montpellier. From simple student parties, to global health events such as the Telethon, Movember, Octobre Rose or Sidaction, to the Gala Médecine, but also with a daily Culture section offering organic baskets, ciné'kult and Montpellier's best student deals, the ACM aims to support medical students throughout their studies.

Why did you personally choose to study medicine, and what does the association have to offer students in this field?

Personally, I've always had a certain attraction for medical concepts, so it was a natural choice for me to go into this field. It's when you choose medicine that you realize how much work there is left to do. But it's when you volunteer your time for an association that you really realize the immensity of the work you can and must do. Having briefly described our activities above, I feel that Corpo Médecine is an institution which, for several generations now, has played a part in the day-to-day life of the Carabins and kept our traditions alive.

Why do you think you should join your association?

By becoming a member of our association, you'll be able to discover all the best deals on Montpellier, take part in all our events, have access to the services we offer (sales of handouts, materials, books...) and much more!

How do I join?

Membership is simple, just meet us at the association's office on the Arnaud de Villeneuve campus, 641 Avenue du Doyen Gaston Giraud, 34090 Montpellier. Membership costs €10, to be renewed each academic year.

A few words about the 2020-2021 office?

The Corpo Médecine board is elected by second-year students at the end of each academic year. They choose from among the members of their class to form the Corpo board for the following year. You can discover the new board members on our website.

We are also present on the networks, so you can find us there:

Last week, we met up with the Carabins Crocodiles Corporation to find out more about Nîmes' associative life.. Today, it's Gaël Gomez, president of the Montpellier music association, who takes part in the Q&A!

In a few words, what is Med'Ley?

Med'ley Montpellier Association is the music association based at the Faculty of Medicine. Since last year, it has been open to all students in the health sector (medicine, midwifery, pharmacy, dentistry, physiotherapy, etc.). Above all, our aim is to introduce music into these long and difficult studies. It also enables all these future healthcare professionals to rub shoulders at our various events. It's not just an association for musicians, but an opportunity for students to meet and share in a musical atmosphere.

What activities or actions do you organize throughout the year?

The Med'ley association organizes a wide variety of events. First of all, we're lucky enough to be able to bring happiness to hospitalized children by playing in the pediatric wards of the Arnaud de Villeneuve and Gui de Chauliac teaching hospitals

Alongside our humanitarian work, we organize concerts in well-known Montpellier bars, as well as blind test and karaoke evenings, all with the aim of bringing people together around the theme of music.

What's more, for the past 2 years, our singing competition, the Med'ley Music Awards, has brought together singers from all disciplines, from the University of Montpellier and other cities such as Toulouse and Nîmes. The competition, held in the Anatomy Amphitheatre, attracts over 200 participants every year, with a new feature this year: direct qualification for the final of the Coupe de France d'Interprétation for our overall winner. The winner also benefits from a studio recording with our partner.

In addition, at the end of the academic year, we organize a big open-air concert in the Jardin des Plantes, with food and drink sales, which, in view of the current crisis, has not been able to take place.

Med'ley also enables musicians to play at numerous other events such as the Gala Médecine, the ACM Scènes Ouvertes and the Journées du Patrimoine.

Finally, all year round, in our music room, we set up tutorials to help members learn an instrument, as well as JAMs to facilitate meetings between musicians.

What does the association offer students?

The association enables health students from all disciplines to meet up and exchange ideas through music. It enables people to exchange ideas and get together in a much more entertaining setting, which is music.

In this anniversary year, the French Post Office will be issuing a stamp dedicated to the 800th anniversary of our Faculty from June 13! Find out more in the article below.

Did you know? The Post Office is issuing a stamp to mark our 800th anniversary!

From June 13, the French Post Office will be issuing a special stamp to celebrate our anniversary.

The stamp brings together on the same surface our famous and symbolic historic building and our new Arnaud de Villeneuve Campus, which were built 650 years ago! In this way, it illustrates the perfect paradox of our Faculty and its history: at once the oldest in the world and undoubtedly one of the most modern in France.

As a wink, Barthez and Lapeyronie have been chosen to appear on this stamp, perfectly mirroring their statues, still guarding the doors of our institution.

Four visible elements and the entire Faculty and its 800 years of history come to the fore!

Where and when can you buy it?

With a face value of €1.16, the stamp will be available as a preview on Saturday June 13 in Montpellier and Paris:
